My husband had a head injury 3 years ago, has been having seizures since then. They have progressed from partial complex to grand mal and as of last night status seizures. His neurologist has said he can do nothing more besides give medicine, until he can see a neuropsychologist. We have no insurance, but it doesn't matter. Whatever he needs it is well worth it. He has tried various medications. Legally in my state, you have to wait 6 months to drive after your last seizure. This will affect him being able to work. I don't really know where to turn. My question is this: Can the state do anything to help? Is he handicapped? Where would I go to find info about this? Will he be able to live a normal life and have a job? Sorry for the lengthy bio, I have just run out of options and don't know what else to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I was pealing potatoes when I accidentally cut a small chunk of my finger off with the potato pealer. It bled alot and hurt really bad yesterday but its not hurting that bad today and I've been changing the bandaid often and applying neosporin but my main question is how does a wound like this heal when there is no top skin present? I've never had anything like this happen before so I dont know how serious it is. If anyone knows if it will heal ok on its own or not please let me know! Thanks

My husband smashed his finger at work today. It is swollen and throbbing. The nail is not torn or ripped. It is a blueish green color. My moher said we may need to get it punctured to release some pressure and blood cause there is a chance he could get gangrene. Should we just put an ice pack on it for a few days or should we go to doctor?

Well, it all started out 4 years ago when me and my brother were jumping off of swings. Yeah I know pretty dumb. But I did it and landed on the side of my foot and colapsed. Well, I couldn't walk on it for like ...3 months. In total it hurt for 1 year non stop. Now it hurts on and off but now it really hurts.I was in a different country and/or contenent and didn't go to the doctor. Pretty dumb also. Well, after that it hurt whenever I just hurt it alittle it would hurt a lot. I'm going to the doctor but I have 2 wait for my mom to get back from a trip. What does it sound like 2 u? I also heard a loud crack when I landed. Does that mean I broke it? Is it possible that I broke it and it didn't grow back corrctly? What should I do? Do u think it is serious? surgery? Im only 12 FYI.

I'm only 23 years old and have been running for 10 years and have never had any injuries or pain until now. I haven't been to the doctor because i don't have health insurance, but i'm sure its runner's knee because i researched it pretty well. I'm about to have a break down because i can't run and before i lived for running. Its beeing hurting for about a month now.. and i've completely stopped running. What else can i do to make it go away? I try to do strengthening exercises for my quads but it hurts when i do them :( is there any hope that this will go away?

When I take the weight off of my foot I get a very sharp pain where the break was. It's worse in cold weather, is it likely to always be this way?

My boyfriend has torn a muscle in his shoulder at work, many months ago. He's been to the docs and that, but it is still sore sometimes when he hasn't used it for a while. He is starting to build the muscle back up my rotating hot and cold pressures, lifting cans and muscle rub/massages. Is there anything else that anyone could suggest to help his healing process?

My whole arm has been hurting since this summer, especially my wrist. A few nights ago, it felt like someone was banging on my elbow, making pain shoot up halfway my arm, and then back down. It feels like poison is being injected into my veins, and my wrist is also in pain. Any idea what this COULD be?

ok, this sounds stupid...but then i was feeling a bit down and so i took a mechanical pencil and deep drew on my arm, then went over it with a staple and deep drew over it...now my arm's covered with those scratches and its not going away...the scars are a bit setting in, are there any ways i can remove the scar tissue easily? or will time make it fade? i really wanna feel normal and wear short sleeves again...and DON'T say to me "haha, you deserve it".

Yesterday I was at work on a ladder. I went to step down onto the ground when a buckle on my right pant leg got caught on the ladder. I stepped down with my left leg and since my right leg was caught my knee popped out (dislocated). When the buckle tore and I put my leg on the ground my knee popped back in. I am positive my knee cap popped out because it was in a position where it should not have been... and it hurt like hell! I was wondering if this would be classified as a dislocation of the knee? And also, more importantly, what should I do now to help it heal? It is still quite sore and is causing me to limp. Should I work it out as much as possible? or Stay keep off of it? Go to the doctor? I would really appreciate some good, well informed answers. Thanks.

I was drumming (bass drum) in two parades the past two days. Each parade was 5 hours long and the drumline played constantly. My wrists are extremely stiff, along with my fingers. My both my pinkies are slightly swollen. What's the best rememdy for this besides rest? I need to be able to use them in a few hours as I have to play tennis. Any help to make them not hurt as much would be great.

Last night after taking my brother to eat seafood (blackend fish and crawfish ettouffee) his hands began to swell. Just his hands. So much so that he had to remove his watch. This morning he says they are a little numb and still swollen. Of course he refuses to go to the doctor but I'm wondering this>...He takes Glucosamine for his athritis in his knee. He is not allergic to seafood or shellfish but could too much shellfish cause swelling?
Has anyone experienced this before or have any intelligent input as to why this might happen after drinking one Corona and eating blackend fish?

My knees, my hips, my ankles and my lower back hurt worse and worse. Then one day about a week ago my hamstring went out. I couldn't run another mile. As a result I switched to the stationary bike. I'm now riding 22 miles every morning which takes approximately 62 minutes. Is this going to sufficiently replace my run? Of course, I take a multi vitamin and supplements daily and I lift weights every other day and since I'm not currently running, I also restricted my diet quite a bit. Like I asked before, considering all of this and that I was only running to stay fit and not compete, will this suffice?

I bruised my toe when the cabinet door fell on my foot. The surrounding skin area around the toenail is badly bruised including the base of the nail. How long will it be till my toe and toenail go back to normal? Will Hirudoid cream help heal it?

I flew over a week ago with a head cold, and my ears got plugged up pretty severely. One cleared up, but the other has still not popped. I went to a GP and he said I had an ear infection and gave me antibiotics (which I have since taken and finished) and a nasal spray. But the ear is not better and now seems like I have slight tinnitus. I can lean my head way to the side and it clears a little, but when I turn back, it plugs up again. Sometimes, it feels like it might pop, but then it stays the same. What is this, and what more can I do? Do I need further medical treatment, or will it clear up on its own?

Recently i hurt my back moving some paving slabs. Not one normally to moan but this is a really annoying pain, Its not constant but when i sit in certain positions or move about it like send a shock wave down my spine.

Never really had any back problems before, Don't really like going to my Doctors as i normally recover better on my own without the aid of medication plus the fact i hate the place.

The strange bit is my skin burns where i hurt my back, Like when you get a Chinese burn lol. But there are no marks on my back whats so ever. It also feels like there is a lot of pressure at the base of my my spine.

Any help would be great
Went to bet at 10pm last night and it was 4am by the time i could sleep.

we have all seen it in a film where someone gets hit on the back of the head with the butt of a pistol and they get knocked out, a few minites later they come round with no apparent side effects.

I have never been pistol whipped or pistol whipped anyone but i would have thought that you would have to hit someone quite hard to knock them out and at the very least you would cut the head open, maybe even fracture the skull or possibly cause brain damage.
