I banged my little toe this morning, and it has doubled in size! I doubt if it is worth going to the hospital as I hear you cant do anything for broken toes. How can I get the swelling down? It hurts when I wear shoes.

Why is it that when people cut their finger or burn their hand, they grab the afflicted limbs wrist with the other hand and shriek and hop/dance in a little circle? Is this instinct? Does it help to jump around in a little circle? Is it that when you had a bug biting you, maybe it would shake it off? I am so confused.

As I'm an electrician my job is very physical, it I'm bent over for a short period of time my back aches very quickly. If I continue this activity for a long period of time, I have trouble walking and my general movement is restricted. At this point I can't go to work fulltime. Will this every change? I'm stretching and strengthening but it doesn't seem to get better.

My nose was bleeding yesterday bad twice and moderate once. Now I am spitting up a lot of blood that is dark and a little black. Could that be from yesterdays nosebleed?

Okay, I sprained my ankle on Jan. 28. It got REALLY swollen and REALLY black & blue. I kept it elevated and put ice on it and then went to the Doc. on Jan. 30. They took an x-ray, no break, just really bad sprain. Well it is now Feb. 1 i'm not in much pain any more and the swelling has gone down alot, but the bruising is still horrible and i'm thinking there is excess fluid also keeping it kind of "puffy". What should I do to get the rest of the swelling down and encourage the blood (from the bruising) and fluid to be re-absorbed???

I think I was 12 when I broke my foot playing soccer.

Then I have never cried, even for really hard pain, like kidney stones or bad sprains.

I think that our pain tolerance increases during the years and we learn how to cope with pain.

How about you?

Today, as I was walking to a bus stop, I all of a sudden had a horrible, intense pain in the back of my left thigh. Nowhere else. I have no idea what it is, it seems like it could be a muscle or likelly a nerve problem. Now, I have to walk a weird way, and I don't know what it is. If I don't walk on the ball of my left food (near toes), I get that horrible, stiff-like, shooting pain. I'm a 17 year old girl who has never had any medical problems. Should I be concerned?

I would like council regarding my situation. I was in optometrist office for a regular checkup on Tuesday Jan 30th, and she had mistakenly put in the wrong drops in my eyes that caused my pupils to dilate for several days and not several hours. It's Thursday Feb 1st and I still can't see without the use of glasses -my pupils are still dilated. I have 20:20 vision ordinarily. What should I do? This is causing me and my family much distress.

I fell hard during a ringette game, but it wasn't on my tailbone, it still hurts after a game and always when i bend over or squat for even 4-5 minutes. Should I get it checked out by the chiropractor?
