I think I was 12 when I broke my foot playing soccer.

Then I have never cried, even for really hard pain, like kidney stones or bad sprains.

I think that our pain tolerance increases during the years and we learn how to cope with pain.

How about you?

65 when I had a frozen shoulder. I'd rather give birth to quins five times a day than suffer that pain again, it's excruciating.

Sorry if this sounds like i am being picky.but.....i do not cry "for" physical pain, as you put, but i cry "because of" the pain, lol. I suffer badly with fibromyalgia, sciatica and torn ligament at the base of my back. I am in pain every single day, but some days are unbearable. After 17 years of this i have become used to it, and my tolerance to pain is very high, but there are days when even lifting a cuppa is too much for me, or just moving my legs or trying to stand. If you can imagine being hit with sledgehammers, and having a red hot sharp poker shoved through the base of your back..thats how i describe my pain when it really flares up. The last time i cried because of it was around 4 days ago.

A few years ago... I must have been 17/18...I was asleep in caravan.. (confined space) and a wasp got caught in my hair and stung my head... not sure if the physical pain actually caused the crying as I am petrified of wasps (for the reason that they always sting me!).. and the fact that I couldn't get out of the space and away from it didn't help!

other than that I can't remember crying out of physical pain for a while now.. although I am about to try skiing for the first time so that might well change very soon!

I have a very high tolerance for physical pain. I didn't cry when a horse stepped on my foot or when I fractured my ankle but I think the last time I cryed for physical pain was when I fell on my face and my nose started bleeding, which happened about two years ago.

I'm in my fifties and I cried like a baby a few weeks ago when I got really bad muscle cramps in my legs. The pain of child-birth or Gall-stones could not match up to that pain.

i didnt really cry, but i got teary eyed. it was last wednesday (jan 24th). i was playing ice hockey for my high school and this idiot kid from the other team pulled 4 penalties with a dirty hit. basically, we were skating full speed towards each other and the kid checked me with his elbow in my chest. i flew backwards, hit my head into the boards, and went unconscious for half a minute. the x-rays and ct scan showed i had 2 fractured ribs, a bruised sternum, and a dislocated thumb. the ct scan of my head said it was "normal", but i've been having memory problems lately (losing stuff, not being able to remember stuff from 4~6 hours ago, etc). yeah... it hurt... i wasnt really crying, but i was teary eyed and jittery. it wasnt fun.

i found that martial arts helps me cope with the pain. by using my chi or qi, i can effectively cancel out most pains. it's hard to explain, but if you've taken a martial art for a while, you know what i'm talking about. this fractured rib business was just too much for me though X_X

16. I fell off my bike really hard.

And I don't agree that pain tolerance improves with age. I think that expressing pain by crying is less tolerated socially as a person ages.

September 2006, i was 26. i had pneumonia and the chest pains were unbearable.
everyone has a different level of pain tolerance, so what may be unbearable for me would feel like a tickle to someone else. its strange how different everyone is in the world.

i have cried just a few days ago due to chest pain. my heart really hurts sometimes, not sure if its just stress or if there is really something wrong. pain tolerance does increase the more you experience it, at least thats what i believe.

my pain tolerance is very low.

But I agree as I grow older I'm able to deal with it in a "mind over body" type of way.

When I get hurt I just counter the pain by stopping doing what I'm doing and waiting.

But there is one evil that is never to be challenged, and that is toe stubbing.

I'll cry like a baby if I stub my toe.
