Everyone hurts their back from time to time. This happens but will resolve itself if you take it slow. You could go to a Doctor to get some muscle relaxant for a few days. Just do your normal activities, and don't lay around or sit too much. Studies show that this resolves almost all back problems without chiropractic or other care.
Once your back feels better, learn some stretches to keep your back and hip muscles supple. Try to do some other exercises to strengthen the ab muscles, which guard the back.

Linda, thank you for your question.

Despite its unpleasantness, pain is an extremely important factor in the existence of humans and animals and in fact vital to survival. While there are numerous sources and types of pain, it is in general a signal that something is not right with your body.

You say that if you move to the right you are "yelling in pain" and that you have been hurting for 4 days now. Considering the longevity and severity of your pain, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. He or she has the necessary qualification to examine you properly and determine what the real cause is, and whether any further action is necessary.

Please do not delay any longer, because while your condition can be simple and temporary (and I sincerely hope it is), many serious injuries can be brought upon in simple ways, and sometimes they do not manifest themselves strongly enough or early enough for you to notice.

If the pain gets worse, go to the emergency room instead of waiting for an appointment. Best of luck!

Unless you fell or almost fell off the chair, it's probably just a pulled muscle. You should go on and go to your regular doctor and allow him/her to examine you. Ask about muscle relaxers if it is indeed a spasm. My favorite muscle relaxer is Skelaxin because it works in a couple of days and it doesn't make me feel weird. There's no point in suffering with a muscle strain and the doctor can help you feel better quickly.

In the meantime - take advil/alleve/tylenol/aspirin (whatever you normally take) per the dosing instructions on the label. Apply gently heat to the affected area on your back and walk around as much as possible. Be sure to eat nutritiously and drink plenty of water so your body has the fuel it needs to heal. My only other piece of advice is to follow all of the doctor's instructions carefully. I hope that you feel better soon.

I can relate. I've been self treating a lower back injury for as while. Most docs couldn't "cure" the pain or discomfort, and the chiropractor would manipulate my spine, but the muscle tissue would always spasm back.

I was introduced to Trigger Point Therapy by a friend of mine and it has been great. I use the book "Trigger Point Self-Care Manual," Donna Finando, and it is great. You may have injured your quadartus or one of the long thin muscles along your spine (erector spinae).

Hope this helps.

In case the pain still continues , with no abnormality like swellings, try to take hot water bath and harmless pain killers for three or four days. Apply some good quality balm in the area of pain before your bath. this might be a temporary muscular pain.

Don't you think that if you move in a certain direction and you experience excruciating pain that makes you yell out that you might want to go to a professional and see what the problem is? There isn't anyone here that can help with your situation, go to the doctor.
