Two friends of mine who took an anatomy course together have both told me that leaving a broken or fractured bone untreated can cause you to get flu-like illness and common virus-type illnesses. They said its because the bone can cause a hemmorage (sp?). Is this true?

I know my doctor will answer this soon but I just wanted to get some thoughts from others that may have experience or medical knowledge.
I had hernia surgery almost 3 months ago. It was a tear in my abdomen that was repaired.
My doctor told me no gym, golf, etc.. for about three months. I go back to see him next week and last time I was there a month ago he said he would probably clear me this next time I am there.
Three months after the surgery how much has it probably healed? I know doctors like to be safe for good reason but how long after this type of surgery are things pretty much healed? Should I feel safe going back to doing normal things? He cleared me 5 weeks ago to start doing light weights/exercises but I have been good and done nothing. Didn't want to risk it.
Thanks for any info, advice or experience.

Its getting to the point where

1) I drive
2) I get out of the car
3) I go to close the door ... and as soon as my finger hits the metal part of the door BOOM i get shocked...

and if I avoid all contact with any metal on the car, then I end up getting shocked by the metal doorknob when I go into a building ...

I'm getting really tired of this, its to the point that I dont even like driving because I know that as soon as exit my car, im in for a jolt of pain .. what can I do to stop this?

Ok well about 3 years ago I jumped off a swing and landed on my side of my ankle. It really hurt but I never went to the doctor. It really hurt for about 1 year but I nevered bothered to go to the doctor, which now I see that that was a big mistake. Sometimes it just hurts at random times and whenever I hurt it alittle it really kills. Is there anything I can do BESIDES go to the doctor? What is it? Any good websites? Plz help!?!

If I do go to the doctor what will they do?

Scar creams like scarzone, cocoa butter scar serum etc etc promise eliminating old and new scars. I've tried all these but honestly, there has been no noticeable change. Is there any cream that eliminates or fades scars or do we just depend on sugery. Someone please help me!!!

i injuried my right knee about 3 years ago and since then i have failed to engage my movements and muscle properly on my right side. My physio likened it to having a stroke, not so much as i couldn't move my right side but subcon i didn't want to for fear of reinjuring. i don't know if this is the source of the problem but i my right shoulder has become really stiff of late. Even in bed, when i lay on my back i can feel my shoulder blade sticking out making it very uncomfortable to to sleep. i also can lay on my right side due to this problem. At the moment i am doing Pilates and feel that my right side is getting better apart from my shoulder. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong with my shoulder?

Basically did this at judo and ended up with a hairline fracture width-ways across my ulna quite close to the head of the bone. My doc didn't really give me a time-scale - he just said i'd know when it was sorted. But to be pretty honest myy bodies rubbish anyways so i won't know lol so i'd appreciate it if you guys could give me a rough timescale. cheers. sam x

I'm prone to ankle sprains and I have recently sprained my ankle again. I went to the doctor and he told me that it is quite a mild sprain and it would heal within 2 weeks. But it has been 3 wees plus now and it is still swollen and it is slightly painful at times. It is not swollen in the morning when I wake up but it swells when I come home from school even though I did not walk much having taken a cab home everyday. And I wear an ankle guard and sometimes an ankle brace with it too. Also, the front part of my foot(ball of my foot) hurt when I walk after some time even though it is just for a short distance. Why is this so? I wear good and comfortable sports shoe and also I did not have such a problem when I sprained my ankle in the past.

I had surgery back in October to remove two fragments of bone from the navicular/cunieform area, which I apparently broke and it healed. But had fragments floating about causing pain. So he removed those and that area feels okay. But where he cut into me it still is tender and I have a pin pricky feeling when you touch that area. But around that area, epsecially near the ankle when I move my foot up and down, it feels like my muscle is about to tear. And sometimes the pain radiates up to my right side of my knee. There is very slight swelling and slight tenderness. Is this normal after surgery - after 5 months? I also have toe pain which the doctor said I have capsulties but that was a month ago - and I still have pain. The doctor has taken many xrays and can't see anything wrong. Can you still have a fracture if it had healed? Or am I a big baby? Please help.
