i injured it a year ago in a cross country race.i couldn;t get up the stairs for a few days..then there was minor pain for bout half a year..my knees does not hurt now.but there is still cracking sounds.i'm currently taking up tennis and i'm afraid that it will hurt my knees.any way of curing it?i'm 20 btw

Cracking sound could be the beginning of osteoarthritis and the sound comes from bone rubbing on bone. See a doctor before you do anything else or you could cause more serious problems.

See a doctor, if your knee hurt for six months you most likely tore something the first time and the cracking you hear now is a result of the poorly healed injury.

You should talk to your doctor about this. You could have the early stages of arthritis. You might need to try activities with less impact.
