I recently sprained my ankle in October while playing in a basketball game. I was taken to the doctor two days later and XRays were taken, but no fracture was found. This was confirmed by TWO doctors and a physical therapist. The following weekend in November I played in two more basketball games. After those games I was taken to get an MRI. The MRI results showed that I had a complete fracture of the fibula right above the malleolus, and upon seeing these results, the orthopedic surgeon said she was SHOCKED! My question is, is it possible that the fracture occurred because I played on my ankle in a weakened state? I really need a medical professional to answer this, and give me some sort of proof or medical documentation to back the answer up. I need it for possible legal reasons because I am playing professional basketball, and the team is trying to get out of paying me for November because supposedly the fracture occurred in October even though it wasn't discovered until November.

I was wanting to know how to live in this situation. I have a 5 & 6yr old and I want to be around to see them grow up. I never let them see my pain but they tend to sense it. I want to know if there is a really good program that can help me without shoving meds down me. The medication is part of the reason I am having my problems.(Side Affects) I am only 39 years and I there is a lot of things I still want to do but my body due to the pain I am always in will not allow it. I am an 18 year Army Veteran. Plus I am Air Borne. So you know there are back problems as well. I don't want pitty. I want serious answers. I would like to go back to school and finish my degree. Then go back to work. My son and my daughter know that I am retired but they even said that I should go back to work. They know that I am retired but they also know where my heart is. Children are very smart and we some times take that for granted. We should listen to them more. And this is the main reason I ask.

I need a double knee replacement operation, but doctors in the UK are reluctant to carry this out on the grounds of my age, arguing that I would be likely to need the replacements themselves replaced twice if I live to average UK life expectancy. The doctors are working on the assumption that replacement knees have only a ten year lifespan, but I have heard of people having replacements which are still going strong after 15 years.

Can anyone who has had one or both knees replaced (or a surgeon with joint replacement experience) give me details of the type of replacement recieved, the manufacturer and your experiences since the operation. I would be very interested in hearing from anybody who has recieved Japanese titanium knees which I have anecdotely heard good reports about.

I am about to have knee replacement surgery 12-19. Please let me know what you went through with recovery.

I am already aware of the pain, buising, and PT.

Please be specific on how long you were hospitalized, how long you had to stay in bed before the doctore told you to start moving. Advice on bathing around the incision. Trips to the bathroom?

Thanks for all of your helpful input.

I play guitar, blues guitar, which involves a ton of bending - my middle finger nail as a result slowly gets the skinned ripped off from underneath it, causing it to bleed and usually make me take a break for a few days. I've heard of putting super glue under nail to prevent this any opinions? (Plz no guitar "guru" help such as "change your string gauge - tune down half step, etc - )

Accidents That Need a Doctor's Care
Yesterday you were out shooting some baskets or maybe playing some touch football when you made this sudden turn and heard a soft "pop." Soft popping sounds don't usually get you excited, but this one came from your knee. The next thing you knew, your hands were wrapped around that rascal and your eyes were filled with tears of pain.

Today you woke up with swelling, tenderness, radiating pain, and perhaps some discoloration and loss of motion.

What kind of damage could have occurred? Well, there are basically three common forms of destruction to choose from: torn cartilage, a torn ligament, or both.

What should you do about it: That's easy. Put it on ice and go to a doctor—today.

I got this ^^^^ information from google and it pretty much describes my situation with my knee. But still I don't have any further information and I would really really appreciate some help from a doctor who knows about this...

I burned the inside of my arm right below the crook of my elbow on a hot cookie sheet. There was a little skin bubble that peeled off, and now I am keeping neosporin and a band-aid on it. The skin looks red, but not infected or anything. How long should it take for it to heal? Is there anything I can do to make it heal faster?
