Yes... but the real problem would be that your eyes would dry out unless you continually bathed them.

People sleep with their eyes open sometimes. I think one would have a terrible case of dry eyes. If the eye lids were removed for some reason, it would be very difficult to adjust, and you probably would be afraid to try to sleep not knowing what might be done to you next. But, over time the body would shut down and it would happen, sleep commeth.
