Yes, you can its called over exertion. Sometimes it can be the bodies way of warning you to slow down or maybe you have used that muscle too much in a short time period.
I have just recenlty got over a bad back. Dont listen to people when they tell you to wear a support when carry heavy equipment etc. Just rest until the pain goes and then just take it easy when you return to work.
The more you get reliant on a back support, it weakens the muscle that it holds in place. Therefore, making the back more vunerable. It might be worth drinking protein drinks when after any physical exertion. These supplements are not just designed for body builders but for general purpose. Thats how our bodies remain strong/ and get stronger. The types of foods we eat in this day and age dont provide us with sufficient protin levels so we have to make up for it in some way.
I had a very bad back and I noticed a significant difference when trying these. Hope this helps.

Yes, you can. On the other hand, if you took preventive measures such as lifting correctly, not exceeding your limits, etc, there might not be any problems. However, lifting wrong, twisting or turning the wrong way can cause serious back problems. Pinched nerves are common. Sciatica, a pinched nerve in the lumbar region might have symptoms of shooting pain down one or both legs or can simply stay in the lower back.
Also, depending on how old you are, degenerative disc disease might play a role as well as arthritis. One might think that working too hard is the reason for the back pain, but it might be worth it to consult a physician.
Good luck!

yes ,i say that because, hard work like heavy lifting, carr ying, without some kind of support will put a lot of stress on the muscles and your spine ,over a long peri od of time will cause problems later on ,might be back or hip ,arm, etc. i myself have lower back, hip &leg problems caused from lifing feed sacks[50lb] and place them on my shoulder and taking to the barn [app 600lb] once a week for twenty yrs. to feed horses. so take care of your back and it will care for you years to come

Alot of people suffer back pain from work that requires alot of lifting which is made worse if you have to lift and twist. Once that you injure your back it is with you for life.
