I fell on the ice this morning and initially my wrist was just a tish sore but I could still move it normally, but now, 6 hours later it's really sore when I move it and it's just a slight bit swollen. Could it be fractured even if I can still move it, or maybe just a sprain? What warrents a trip to the Dr.?

I was going on my friends roof and instead the window closed on my big toe. I think because my foot was already numb from the snow outside it didn't hurt as bad as it could have, but I new it was broken. It is swollen and purple and I can't bend it, what should I do? And by the way I hurt myself a lot so my parents will never believe me or take me to get an x-ray.

I saw this on History channel about pilots CREATING too many major errors that result in deadly plane crashes. This does not only pertain to pilots in general, but it could happen to just about any individual who experience or are under too much pressure within the workforce. I'd like to learn more about this diagnosis and what a person can do to prevent this and become actively alert in avoiding this type of condition on the jobsite. What drug treatments, healthy dietary & lifestyle habits, or prevention methods are available ~ if any....?

I have been having problems with my left knee since December. I was running up a hill and all of a sudden I felt a really sharp pain on the inside of my left knee. After a few weeks I saw an orthopedic PA. I got an MRI and it showed that there was no ligament damage and that I may or may not have a torn medial meniscus-they couldn't say definitively.

At the beginning of January I got a cortisone injection. I got no relief, so the PA referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. By this time the pain was basically in the middle of the medial side of the knee. He told me that that sounded more like an inflamed plical band. So, last week I got a 2nd cortisone injection where the plica is.

It has been a week and it no longer hurts along the entire side of my knee. However, now I keep getting this sharp, kind of pinching pain lower down on the medial side of my left knee (i.e. just below the kneecap and over the tibia).

Is it possible to have a torn meniscus AND an inflamed plica?

I seem to be quite nervous all the time, my family notice that even when i sit with them my leg cant keep still, in fact ive just realised i was doing it just then and im on my own! I can never seem to settle and have forgotten the last time i had a good nights sleep. I very rarely drink caffeine, im reasonably out-going in most situations. Anybody got any ideas??

I was just diagnosed with dry eye syndrome and have not been able to wear contacts for about 2 years. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or anything for living with this, it drives me crazy as I work on a computer all day and my eyes are super dry and blurry!! And yes I use perscription eye drops.

Can this ever go away? Is there any way to cure this?

I want to quit smoking, but i'm not sure of which methods really work. I have heard of the laser surgery but want to see if i can do it differently than that. My biggest fear about quitting is gaining weight because i finally got down to the weight where i want to be at. If it were at all possible for me i would go for a run or exercise when i had the urge to smoke, but with 2 little boys at home it makes this really really hard to do. Can someone please offer me any suggestions??

I banged my thigh on the corner of a counter on Tuesday. I didn't think much of it until the next day when it started to hurt. By evening on Wednesday I was hurting even climbing the stairs. But now I realize that even though I am sore when sitting down the most painful thing is trying to get up after sitting or laying down for a while. If I walk lightly on it I can get around but squating or bending is out of the question.

I was hit on the top of my head with a basketball. Right now, I feel dizzy and unfocused, but my headache is going away. Do you think I have a concussion???? I could be unfocused from being tired, but I don't feel that tired. I would appreciate if people with medical experience could answer this question.

I would like to know of a really good quit smoking technique that works well.
I really would like to quit smoking, but i like smoking. I know it sounds weird, but i enjoy it sometimes. I really would like to find a good technique to quit this disgusting habit. Has anyone quit successfully and how did you do it? I don't smoke that much. Usually two packs a week.

I had a motorcycle accident 4 years ago (hit from behind and knocked off) and was left with a bad back, which was compounded by another rear shunt last May (and no, I don't have a target painted on my back, although it sometimes feels like it!). I have had physiotherapy and been told they can do nothing more, and that I'll just have to 'put up with it'. My doctor has prescribed Co-Codamol which is good but I need the full dose which sends me round the twist so I never take the full dose as I prefer to be sane for work! This obviously leaves me in pain still, although with the edge taken off by the painkillers. So, my question is this - does anyone have any advice on how to alleviate the pain to make it more bearable? All sensible suggestions sooo welcome!
