I was hit on the top of my head with a basketball. Right now, I feel dizzy and unfocused, but my headache is going away. Do you think I have a concussion???? I could be unfocused from being tired, but I don't feel that tired. I would appreciate if people with medical experience could answer this question.

Do you know if you got knocked unconscious? If you were knocked out you may have a mild concussion. But the way it sounds is that you don't have one. If you're having any memory loss or anything then it would be a good idea to get checked out by the doctor. If not I wouldn't worry about it too much. It might be a good idea to have someone wake you up a couple times tonight just to make sure you're doing okay once you fall asleep.

No; from what you describe, this is not a concussion.

Concussion is defined as any brief and temporary interruption of neurologic function following head trauma. Dizzy and unfocused really aren't part of the criteria. Usually this means being knocked out or not being able to remember specific things (like what you were doing just before and just after the head injury).

There are various definitions and criteria for a concussion. If we use "a temporary disturbance of brain function due to a head injury," you had a mild concussion.

normally a hit from a basketball would not cause a concussion. If you get nauseous and the headache persists, then you should see a doctor.
