I banged my thigh on the corner of a counter on Tuesday. I didn't think much of it until the next day when it started to hurt. By evening on Wednesday I was hurting even climbing the stairs. But now I realize that even though I am sore when sitting down the most painful thing is trying to get up after sitting or laying down for a while. If I walk lightly on it I can get around but squating or bending is out of the question.

Your muscles are probably just sore...happened to me....just rub the sore area and wait it out you will be better in a couple of days :).

It is provably bruised. Broken blood vessels can cause swelling and pain, keeping it cold can reduce swelling and pain, so can some over the counter painkillers like Tylenol. Don't worry your condition will likely clear up in less then a week.

Do You have a visible bruise? If not go see a Dr. perhaps you injured a muscle or a ligament but to rule out anything more serious you will need to be examined.
