General Health Care - February 2007

Well while we were at my grandmas house her finger started to swellup and turn a bluish color. She said this has happened more then once but at random times. It just happens she said. Once she even had 2 break the ring she had on her finger because it swelled up so much and she started to not fit and she would have lost surculation in her finger. It happened on her pointer finger and im not quite sure if its always the same one or not but this doesn't seen norman and I am worried about her. Is it something seriouse? Can someone give me more information on this subject? I dont know what it is. Plz help me!!!!! I'm desperate!!!!!!!

I have a REALLY hard time falling asleep. I go to bed at about 10:00-10:30 on school nights and wake up at 7:00, but I usually don't fall asleep until around 11-12? And I am always tired in the morning! Any tricks to help me fall asleep?

Ok well about 3 years ago I jumped off a swing and landed on my side of my ankle. It really hurt but I never went to the doctor. It really hurt for about 1 year but I nevered bothered to go to the doctor, which now I see that that was a big mistake. Sometimes it just hurts at random times and whenever I hurt it alittle it really kills. Is there anything I can do BESIDES go to the doctor? What do u think I have? Any good websites? Plz help!?!

My husband had his left knee replaced (he is 54, and was diagnosed with severe arthrits as a consequence of polio). The procedure was done in February of 2006, and after therapy, he got to the point where he could walk without pain. However, for the past 6 - 8 weeks, his knee is swelling up so much that he is having a hard time walking, going up or down stairs and even driving. We've been to his doctor's office 2 times and my husband had full blood work looking for infections and a bone scan. Both tests came back normal - no infection and no dislocation of the new joint but the swelling still comes and goes - it is almost like one day with swelling, one day without. He has tried Ibuprofen, icing the knee, keeping it elevated, gentle massage and nothing is working. He just had a prescription for Celebrex filled out but it doesn't seem to work either.
Now for the question: Would you have any idea of what could be causing this problem? Can't find specific answers anywhere!

I'm a girl, who's 13 years of age, and has Odgood Shlotter for about a year now, i still have the bump underneath my knee cap, and i still am having pain with it.
I do sports, i play softball, dance, and i just ended cheerleading season with my school.

As a child my sister got hit in the eye with a soccer ball. Her vision blacked out temporarily and when she went to the ophthalmologist she was diagnosed with internal bleeding in her eye and instructed her to stay home in a dark room, not move around a lot, and use dilation drops in the eye for three days. I was just wondering what other symptoms are and how internal bleeding of the eye is officially diagnosed and treated. THANKS!

I feel that I always have to crack my back in order for it to feel better

and i do crack it, and i twist and bend myself so that i can hear it 'crack'

it feels sore

it feels stiff

is this back pain?

and Also a 'Scoliosis' Question, do u have to be born with scoliosis or can u develop it, and have it in your teens?

also if u have 'scoliosis' do u always have to have a visibly 'crooked back'?

I've always been told my veins were small and deep, so donating blood I usually have some difficulties. This time I didn't get a bruise but I have a lump near where the needle was in the vein and when I touch it it's sore....I'm scared to work out cuz I like to work out for a long time and usually running, I don't want it to open back up if it's still healing, what should I do/how do I know if I'm ok

Bugger bugger i'm kinda drunk, a bottle of wine in, a slashed my arm with a razor, not unusual for me but it was very deep, I don't really know what to do, it's not hit a vain but I can see gaping fat from my arm, it won't stop bleeding, I tried to use plasters to kinda close it up a bit, but it's bleeding through the plasters, it's only about half a centimeter wide, about 2 inches long? What should I do? I packed tissue over the plasters and then put a tube bandage over it, don't say go to the hospital, I cna't, I'm at home with my parents and their friend, just been getting a bit drunk with them and I dont want them to know, and don't say I need help because I know it. It's bleeding more becuase i'm drunk. Help people? What do I do?!

My brother plays his electric guitar for several hours every night at the loudest volume. I can hear the tight, screathing guitar stings all over our two story house. I even went outside to sit on the patio and could hear it. My mom doesn't care if he plays it that loud. She won't tell him to stop and I get a headache. ok i have three in grown toenails on my big toes, i already had one cut out a couple months ago(painful!) so now on thursday i have to go get them cut out in the morning before school so im not going, but i have gym, first period?? last time it took me like 2 weeks to recover from one side, now i have to all 4 sides done and they have to cut out underenith and kill the toenail(i heard thats even more painful) well we are allowed to wear flipfops but should i continue staying in gym??? i can change out of it but i need to tell my mom something about exaclty why i should change out and im scared that staying in gym i could get any of my toenails stapped on, and we run the track play basketball, and we are starting soccor?? so im not sure what i should do..can someone help?? thanxx♥
