She is also taking blood thinners and we don't want there to be internal bleeding!!

To help with swelling, ice the area and take some ibuprofen. Since she is on blood thinners though I wouldn't suggest taking any meds and getting her to see a doctor.

Try putting ice on the swollen area to take it down and then make a doctors appointment.
