I've always been told my veins were small and deep, so donating blood I usually have some difficulties. This time I didn't get a bruise but I have a lump near where the needle was in the vein and when I touch it it's sore....I'm scared to work out cuz I like to work out for a long time and usually running, I don't want it to open back up if it's still healing, what should I do/how do I know if I'm ok

it may just be swelling.. if you are extremely worried, take a little bit of ice and rub it over the place where you had blood taken for 20 minutes..don't leave it still. continually go in circles... if you leave it on any longer your body creates a "hunters response" and will think you are getting frost bite and pump more blood to the area and make it worse.. if it lasts for more than week you need to go see a doctor..

Some people's veins are just smaller or narrower than others. There might not be anything you can do about this. My friend has tiny veins and when I practiced on her it was incredibly hard to ever get a good stick. Only if you were dehydrated at the time would water consumption make a difference. When a person is dehydrated it is almost impossible to find a good vein.

It's normal for your vein to be sore the next day or two. It's not going to open back up. No way.

im anemic and when i give blood, i get bruised and i get a big bump and it usually leaves like my arm soooo soar to like move it and stuff, and i usually get a scar from it..... im sure you'll be fine.... but if you want to work out and stuff just make sure and drink lots of water, but if you start to get dizzy put your hands over your head and drink water, and always eat a small snack like crackers or a healthy granola bar.....

It won't open back, what happened is the nurse had a bad hand, that's it... it won't hurt anymore in a couple of days... don't worry.
