percocet is stronger and more addictive. generic = OXYcodone + acetaminophen (abbreviated APAP) it is a class 2 controlled substance / narcotic.
vicodin is not quite as strong, but is still a pretty strong pain killer. generic = HYDROcocdone + APAP. it is a class 3 controlled substance. it is still quite addictive.

Percocet is stronger and it comes in varying strengths. I was taking Vicodin for migraines (when none of the migraine meds would work). When I told the neurologist that Vicodin only "sometimes" helps, he prescribed Percocet because it's more potent. Hope this helps.

Percocet is one of the brand names for oxycodone.
Vicodin is one of the brand names for hydrocodone.
Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone.
They both come in different strengths. 5.5/500, 5.5/325, 7.5/650 7.5/500.....
They are both prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain.
Hydrocodone, can be called into a pharmacy by a physician, and the script can list refills.
Oxycodone, can not be called in, and refills are not allowed.
Of course both are extremely addictive!!
