I sprained my finger yesterday by hitting it off a desk by accident, and my finger went back. So i left school, went to the walk-in and the doctor examined my finger and said that it was just a sprain because I was moving it too well for it to be anything too serious. He didn't send me for x-rays because he said I didn't need one at all. Anyways, he suggested a splint, so he gave me one, as well as to apply ice on it, and to flex it a bit but not too roughly. I've been doing all that, but I noticed that the purple spot on my finger widened a bit [ my finger was normal in color, except for the purple spot by my knuckle ]. It just looks like a bruise. My mum said it was normal because it was healing. Today, I looked again and the purple spot got lighter. So I'm not really sure.

Should I be concerned?

I just got my wisdom teeth extracted twelve hours ago and the bleeding won't stop. I think the stitches on the top got loose and now there's blood everywhere. It's a weekend so I don't know what will happen if I call them-- and Monday is Martin Luther's.

I've been biting gauze since I got out of the clinic and I've had an ice pack twice for the swelling. I'm just waiting for morning so I can call the office. Is there anything I can do to keep the bleeding down?

I was in a hummvee accident in iraq in Nov 2004. I had lower back pain since then. Now I've been told I lost some feeling in my left leg and my upper back is real tender so if you touch it hurts. I got an xray from the VA hospital and they say part of my lower spine was missing. I went to military doctor and they said everything was normal but I hurt more when I do exercises or stand and sit for long periods of time. Its been 2 years and it still hurts everyday even if I even stopped medication cause it doesn't work. I'm in Germany now and thinking about going to the doctors over cause they pretty can find anything and keep you in the hospital til they find out whats wrong unlike back in the states.

I know that you require a prescription within 1 year to buy contact lenses. However, I already have measurement for my eyes (base curve, diameter) on my previous contact lens boxes. So can i just get an eye exam just for testing my refraction/power ? What i actually need are the refraction...I have my eye size measurement on the boxes of my previous lens.

Or do I still have to get a prescription which lists my :
- refraction/power
- eye size

to be able to buy lens?

I stopped smoking around Christmas time (yey me) and I'm doing quite well with the cravings and that, but my habit was more of a social thing. Since stopping I have found that I have nothing to do with my hands and its worse when I’m in the pub and I have started to bite my finger nails again, something that I have not done since I was about 13!!

Can anyone give me any good tips on other displacement activities I can engage my hands in instead or either smoking or nail biting...and clean ones please...

Lately I've been feeling sharp pains where it was repaired. This is noticable especially when I have been sitting for long periods of time. Not very often, I can feel it when I am standing, too. Walking doesn't seem to be a problem, but running or jogging is not an option. Could these be signs that something might make it rupture again? I am 50 years old. I don't think I could handle this twice. What can I do to prevent it from happening again?

a week ago i fell from a wall about 5 and a half feet high, and i landed just on one leg. my leg wasn't able to bend so i landed that high fall with one leg and not bending it, but now, a week later, it hurts when im not doing anything, but if i run or skate for 5 minutes than the pain goes away untill i stop the activity, once i stop if i wait a couple minutes then the pain gets REALLY bad. and i can't run after that. the lower right section of my right knee is what hurts, when i do feel the pain. what's wrong with my leg?? and how long will it take to heal??? i have track try outs on tuesday, will it be better by then???
