Ambien CR is what i'm taking

just an update only took a half of a 1mg ativan with 12.5mgtotal of ambien CR. Ativan is a Benzodiazepine. Ambien is a non benzo-hypnotic. They may or may not have the same effect on the CNS, but I don't plan to take more than 1mg of ativan if i still cant sleep. This barely did anything for me the night before, I had to go to 1.5mg of ativan before anxiety lifted.

Yes they can be taken together with no problems at all but just make sure you have a doctor monitoring the dosages. You see, Ambien and Ativan are both completely different classes of drugs so they can be used at the same time, Ambien being a hypnotic sedative used for no reason other than making people sleepy, and Ativan being a benzodiazapine, which is used to treat anxiety disorders with very mild sedative effects, and are not known to counter each other in any way that would cause any problems beyond some daytime drowsiness. Case in point: for the last year my psychiatrist has had me on a daily dose of 25 mg of Ambien CR at night along with 1 mg of clonazepam (Klonopin), which is another well known benzodiazapine class anti-anxiety drug just like lorazepam (Ativan) and, like I said, aside from a little extra sleepiness during the day, I have never had ANY problems at all with it, nor have I have been given any indication from my Dr. that there is any potential danger from interaction of these two types of pills. Of course, you should ask your individual doc about it, but from my exrerience, I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine.

You would be taking 2 suppressants to the central nervous system. This should not be done.

No, they are both CNS (central nervous system) depressants. To put it simply, you could overdose. It's not advised.
