A slipped disc is where the cartalage disc which sits inbetween each verabae squeezes out. The only way to cure it is to immobilise the two vertabrae that it sits between, to do this though, the disc needs to be removed or trimmed so that the joint can be fused together. Its a case of taking painkillers and not stressing the joint, or surgery.

my husband had surgery a year ago to remove the parts of the disk that had bulged out and broken off...he is almost back to were he was pre surgery today, currently in bed and in pain. I also have a bulged disk, pieces have broke off on both sides, so I get the sciatic nerve pain going down both of my legs. I have done the PT thing, and continue to attempt to strengthen my abs and back muscles, but there is no miracle cure here. I am not going to jump into the operating room until I have no choice but to do so, as I went threw it with my husband and I feel it was a very temporary fix. Be careful about what you do, you will figure out what irritates it, and when it is flaring up it takes rest and pain meds. Good luck

My mother has one and has done for 25 years. As far as I am aware you can't cure it,just use physio exercises to try and keep it supple and moving and try and alleviate some pain. Wearing a surgical corset can help with support. There may be a chance of an operation, but I think the risks are quite high.

Rest and therapy...( if you work, see if your company will pay therapy fees, mine did.)
I had one a few years ago, I was off work 16 weeks. The pain at times was unbearable. I just kept topped up with pain killers.
Try Pethidine..or whatever, Take as directed, no more.
I took 3 when I should have taken 1...If someone had come in my house and nicked my telly I would have laughed..
Still ached when I returned to work, just took my time to let it heal.
You'll now when your on the mend.
