I just got my wisdom teeth extracted twelve hours ago and the bleeding won't stop. I think the stitches on the top got loose and now there's blood everywhere. It's a weekend so I don't know what will happen if I call them-- and Monday is Martin Luther's.

I've been biting gauze since I got out of the clinic and I've had an ice pack twice for the swelling. I'm just waiting for morning so I can call the office. Is there anything I can do to keep the bleeding down?

Here are some details on the bleeding: I'm not sure how to describe this exactly, but when I put in gauze it's soaked with blood within half an hour. And when I take it out, there are chunks of blood stuck to it. I was told that bleeding is normal and that excessive bleeding should go away, but it's really hard to gauge if this is going away or not due to the carnage in my mouth.

Here's another detail. It's an oozing, not a gushing.

Go to the E.R. of a hospital so that they can administer first aid. Quickly! Now!

You don't mention the level of bleeding, and this is not a good thing at all.

I would to to emergency immediately and have them see if them check it out. I know they are not dental surgeons, but should be able to stop the bleeding and restitch the gum area if necessary.

Get thee to the Dr post haste!

keep biting the gauze... but i think if it's still bleeding, you may want to go to the emergency room because you don't want to lose too much blood.
