my Mom fell down on her back...I took her to E.R...X-ray showed a fracture in tail bone about 5 mm.
they do not recommend surgery...just pain killer.
doctor said " she might have to take pain medicine always."

I want to know ,..does this kind of fracture heal without surgery?

she is very brave and is still walking.
it is not hair line it is seperated.

I know that when your head gets cut all the way off you immediately die (or do you?), but when it hits your neck before it goes all the way through, would it hurt? Would you realize it before you died? Could you feel it?

When doing chrunches my neck starts to hurt after doing about 40. I don't put my hands behind my neck or anything (they are generally crossed at my chest or at my sides). Am I doing them wrong, or is it just something I got to get used to?

basically I slipped while grated cheese and took a chunk out of my index knuckle. the flesh was still attatched by skin so i put it back in. two days later it is scabbing, but the bit of flesh I put back in looks like a tiny grey bruise. Is this normal, or do you reccommend getting checked out by a doctor? Many thanks for your help.

I've heard before that you should always sleep on your back, no matter what. I've also heard that this is a very poor idea, because it's not good for the back, and that you should sleep on your right side (sleeping on the left can damage the heart). And I've heard that sleeping on one's stomach is the worst thing a person can do. Can someone please clear this up- which position should a person sleep in to insure optimum health and well-being? And does anyone have any thoughts on pillows (is it better to sleep with or without one)?

Thanks!

I have experienced pain in my calfs recently after I have been sitting in a chair or driving for 20 or 30 minutes. It is a little difficult to start walking and then in just a matter of 30 or 40 seconds it feels fine again. I have also been having an almost constant nagging in my lower back and someone told me the calf pain was associated with the lower back pain. If someone has any advice or opinions I am most grateful. Thank you in advance.

I walked quite a bit on holiday a week ago and since then have had terrible pain in my knees. I have not injured or hurt myself and would like to know what is causing the pain and how to fix it. The pain is worse when walking up/downstair. I have had no swelling or redness at any stage. I have been to the Doctor twice and they are unable to tell me what is wrong. Any ideas?

my left pinky gets this numb tinglly feeling to it. almost like it "fell asleep" and this feeling in it last for a couple hours or a couple days. why is it doing that? did i pull a nerve? or did i hurt a disk in my spine? could my shoulder be dislocated and i dont even know about it? is there anything i can do to make this not happen? is it life threatening?

I'm 57 (no this isn't just a site for the under 20's!) and for the past couple of years have got by on about 6 hours - sometimes 5 and a half hour's sleep a night. I don't usually feel tired the next day so does my body ensure I always get the sleep I need and no more? If I keep trying to go back to sleep - I often end up feeling less refreshed and more groggy. Anyone with similar experiences?

When one swallows and it causes coughing and gasping we tend to say, "It went down the wrong pipe." If it really goes down the wrong pipe, where does it end up in our body? If it is in the lungs or somewhere else, how would our bodies expel it? If we don't expel it, what happens to it?
