I have torn my left ACL...waited until December to have surgery. Which I am thankful I did because my knee isn't giving out anymore. Every person heals and recoops differently, so it's hard to say exactly what you are looking for but I can give you an idea. Whatever you do, do not let your knee get stiff...it will take ten times longer to get back into the swing of things. Like a week after my surgery I started PT...slowly but then finished within a few months. My muscles weren't building up so mine took a bit longer. April is looking good for you, but like I said everyone is different. The surgery is very painful but it is worth it if you don't want to keep falling from an unstable knee. Also, make sure you do the home excersises that PT gives you...it will help greatly. Hope this helps

I had an ACL injury on my right knee from a motorcycle accident. I opted to not have surgery because it wasn't torn it was just severely pulled, I was in a leg brace for 4 weeks had 4 day a week PT for another 4 weeks then 2 days a week for 4 weeks then 1 day every 2 weeks for almost a year. And I still have trouble with my knee, the doc wants me to have surgery but I told him not until I am crawling into his office, that was almost 6 years ago. I just keep exercising and building the muscle no surgery for me if I can help it.

With an ACL tear, it depends on how fast it heals. Be prepared t be out at least half of the season, if not you will be out for the entire season. Your doctor will be able to tell you when he thnks you are well enough to return to your sport games. PT is the best process to help slowly re strengthen your muscles. Make sure when your six weeks of PT are done that you ask them to give you a list of excersises you can continue to do at home during the rest of your healing process.

Good Luck :-)
