my left pinky gets this numb tinglly feeling to it. almost like it "fell asleep" and this feeling in it last for a couple hours or a couple days. why is it doing that? did i pull a nerve? or did i hurt a disk in my spine? could my shoulder be dislocated and i dont even know about it? is there anything i can do to make this not happen? is it life threatening?
please help me out. if anything it is just a really annoying feeling.

I have the same thing. It started with my pinky and slowly went to my ring finger and the left side of my hand. If you get these symptoms then its not a big deal.

It is your nerve in your elbow being pinched its caused from leaning on your hand (elbow on a hard surface chin resting in hand). I do this at work when Im reading, also people do it in class on their desk.

I was told to take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil for 10 days and not to put pressure on my elbow. It has gone away since I took that advice.

I hope this helps!

oh and its not carpal tunnel because that is your nerve in your wrist which causes numbness in your pointer and thumb (thats what I thought it was at first)

You're pinching a nerve. Relax your grip, rotate your hands 90 degrees. Or flex your fingers after every 10 curls while not holding weight in them.

That feeling is from cutting the circulation off. It is not normal and it is probably technique that is the cause. You are possibly squeezing the bar too firmly. Lighten your grip a little, lock your thumb around the bar and see if it makes any difference.

yep sounds like you should go to a doctor in any case to find out what it is, it sounds like it could be poor circulation or a pinched nerve of some sort,
my whole arms and hands go to sleep off and on all day, and several times while I'm sleeping, I wish you luck

This is not life threatening but you do need to find out what is going on. Since you say this happens for days at a time or just hours at a time this sounds like you have had this for a while. Get this checked out.

i remember about 2 years ago, i was conditioning my knuckles and for a time, my pinky, ring and middle fingers on my right hand would feel like that. tingly at the tips, numb at times. then my left had, too. lol i just shrugged it off and kept on. i knew what caused it, though. if you have no clue what could have caused it, you might wanna ask a Dr. ...u know...b/c i'm too lazy to type ''doctor.'' wait a minute...aw nuts!

It is poor blood circulation. Open and close your fingers for five minuites a day. It will help.

More than likely it has something to do with carpal tunnel syndrome... do you spend a lot of time typing, surfing, writing or doing some type of craft involving the use of your hands?

No, you are not going to die from carpal tunnel - however, it can be really annoying, particularly when it begins to show up in your sleep.

All you can really do is try to circumvent the numbness and tingling by keeping an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen in your system, and perhaps wear wrist braces which are relatively inexpensive and available at any drug store.

Good Luck.
