I live with my grandparents and my grandma is 76, she has been sick for several days. She has also smoked for 50+ years. She started running a fever of 102, we took her to the hospital, she looks so weak and fragile and when she starts to walk she would get dizzy, they said she had pneumonia but they never said anything about death, which I hope there won't be. They admitted her into the hospital, they said her lungs are horrible and that they are just having her there to observe her and if she's better by the morning she can go home, but I'm worried they just said that not to break any horrible news to us. Can anyone give me any advice or information or what may be going on and if there is hope that she will survive it? Thank you very much in advance. This is a scary situation, for all of us.

I recently went to the doctor for swollen tonsils and a sore throat. He suggested blood work and a X-Ray since I have had ongoing sinius problems. He was confident the X-Ray would give me a good result and told me not to worry. Yesterday the hospital call and suggested I get a CAT scan due to a englarged gland near my lungs.

I quit smoking a month ago, and I am still coughing up brown stuff, and on occasion I have some streaks of blood in my phlem. My chest pain is all towards the right of my chest, right next to my nipple basically. And the pain only comes when I move a certain way. My doctor thought this could be from Costochondritis.

I am just wondering what could be wrong? I look up lymph node problems in the chest and all that comes back is lung cancer, and hodgkins diease? I have also told this could be something as minor as alergies or my sinius infection.

Just curious what this could be, could it be related to me quitting smoking?

Thanks for any help, I am stressing out!

Hey guys, we have a 4 year old girl. She was diagnosed with pneumonia last year, and then reactive airway disease. She gets just about every cold that goes around and coughs so hard she throws up several times. This has gone on for the past year. She only coughs bad when she's sick, stuffy nose, etc. We've taken her to the doctor many times and have tried many different medicines, none seem to be working now, no signs of pneumonia in the chest anymore, sounds like infection isn't coming from the chest. Our doctor tells us there's nothing else he can do but I am positive it's not normal for our child to cough so hard she throws up everytime she gets sick. Just wondering, if anyone's been through this before? Is it time to see a specialist maybe, or they are no help?

I don't know how all the build up of tar and other poisons can be eliminated. Is there any medical data that suggests that the lungs can recover?. Do it really makes sense to stop smoking if the damage is irreversible. Lungs are not like bones, that can be can fixed.

I'm 17 years old with chronic asthma & weigh123 lbs. I've been on Serevent for the past 4 weeks but its hardly helped. Last November I was on Pulimcort for 2 1/2 months but it didn't help much either. Now my doctor is putting me back on Pulmicort (and continuing the Servent). Is this going to work? If Serevent isn't working & Pulmicort didn't help before, can they work together somehow since they dont work individually? Also, I have an Albuterol (rescue) inhaler for quick relief. It says that I can take it up to 4 times a day every 4-6hrs. How close together can I take doses? If I take it & then an hour & a half later I'm short of breath and wheezing can I take it again? I have only been on Pulmicort again for 2 days now & I know that it usually takes about 2 weeks or more to see any improvement.
I used to run track. As a freshman, I was good enough to be put on two relays with seniors. I'm sitll in ok shape but i can't even run a 400m w/out be short of breath and wheezing
