I rarely drink and am really not a drinker, but tonight I had a few glasses of wine and a mixed drink. The effects of the alcohol had worn off but later on in the night, my asthma started acting up - I started coughing like crazy and was having a really hard time breathing. Had to take my rescue inhaler 3 times and I took my nightly puff of the preventative. I'm ok now, just a little sore in the chest.

This is the second time this has happened to me after I had a few drinks, so I was just wondering if there is any correlation between asthma and alcohol. Does it cause or increase attacks?

Did a search on here..and found posts about coughing up bad smelling white chunks. Been there with tonsilitis, not that. I cough up huge (hard to cough up) things. Over 1/2"wide,maybe 3/4" long,1/4" thick. Covered in mucous, consistency of hard rubber. Some parts of it are like tan mucous colored..some more clear..some like when you cough up old blood (brownish). Aprox. 2 weeks ago was put on antibiotics and Zyrtec to breack up mucous after what dr said was just a sinus infection irritating my throat (had a horrible sore throat like Strep). Sinuses didn't hurt at all but was congested. For weeks my throat has been acting up. Coughing up normal stuff for weeks. Coughed up a smaller hard thing the day before this huge one.Afterwards my throat feels alot less irritated, like that thing was stuck behind or on my tonsils. Don't have the need to clear my throat all the time now.

Let's say you smoke a bowl of pot, how many cigarettes would that be? I'm wondering if pot can give you lung cancer and has the same tar smoke going into your lungs are cigarettes or cigars.

I am taking advair 250/50, singulair 10, albuterol and Ipatropium Bromide breathing treatments 4 times a day and an albuterol inhaler as needed.....however, I woke up 4 times last night with an asthma attack....and it was real panicky...I have to sleep with my inhaler under my pillow to get to it in time. Anyway... what else can I do to help with my asthma...this happens to me regularly--and during the day I have to use my inhaler about once an hour!

I would like to be informed when I go to the doc. I am on medicaid and my doctor isnt very nice---last time I went in because my asthma was getting worse, they gave me amitryptiline and lexapro....that did not help, and it makes me think they dont believe me. I am scared. I am 26 yrs old.

I have had a chronic cough for a couple of years.
At times it seems to cause me to have difficulty breathing.
Doctors are not helpful. They say it is not an allergy, nor it is reflux , nor is it asthma, nor is it a problem with the lungs or stomach or throat.

I'm REALLY freaked out about needles, but I need to have my blood taken.

Is there any thing I can do to make it hurt less, Or simply to calm myself down?
Any ideas would be great,

my daughter is on oxygen. She is 13 months old and has been on it since birth. She was weaned down to using it only as needed at around 2 months, but got very sick, and now requires it all the time. Has anyone else had an infant on oxygen? How long were they on it? What is the best way to wean from it? She has low muscle tone so she is just now learning to take her cannula out but as she gets more mobile it is going to be harder to keep in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have RA and have been treated in the past with Remicade--got very sick and was in the hospital and was told not to take it again. I was just told that the Rheumatologist wants me to take Enbrel. I am afraid that I might end up with plural effusion again if I do. Have any of you had any information about that? Enbrel and Remicade are in the same drug class. I would appreciate any websites, or informatio so that I can make an informed decision. Go ahead and e-mail me at either ynda301@sbcglobal.net or ahdrmd@msn.com . I would appreciate any help that you can give me.Thank-You

Ok to start off i will give some of my background. I am 18 and have endometriosis and intersticial cystitis. I have had my gall bladder removed and kidney failure. Last summer i stopped breathing and my mother had to iniciate cpr. I went to the doctor about this and they sent me a heart doctor, asthma tests, and many other tests but still are unsure of what is going on. I tend to feel like i have to make myself breathe which i thought was normal as a child. I often feel like my throat is closing and have stopped breathing a few times. I took the asthma test and the doctor said that my lungs are only 18% in use when 85% is the norm. I was not diagnosed with asthma either time i took the test and am now wondering what to do. Doctors seem to just want to give you a diagnosis even if it is wrong. I am very weak and tired often and i get horrible migraines which may have to do with not getting enough oxygen to the brain. can anyone maybe help me???

My husband has cf. diagnosed at birth and is 5ft 7 about 106 pounds. Doctors want a feeding tube in but he works 40 plus hours a week and plays with our children and doesn't want one because he feels it will greatly limit his ability to carry on like he is now.
