Hey guys, we have a 4 year old girl. She was diagnosed with pneumonia last year, and then reactive airway disease. She gets just about every cold that goes around and coughs so hard she throws up several times. This has gone on for the past year. She only coughs bad when she's sick, stuffy nose, etc. We've taken her to the doctor many times and have tried many different medicines, none seem to be working now, no signs of pneumonia in the chest anymore, sounds like infection isn't coming from the chest. Our doctor tells us there's nothing else he can do but I am positive it's not normal for our child to cough so hard she throws up everytime she gets sick. Just wondering, if anyone's been through this before? Is it time to see a specialist maybe, or they are no help?

Check around with different doctors and get different opinions.

Also when she has a bad cough, try this to soothe her throat and stomach.

Heat up water as if for tea. Disolve 2 and a half tablespoons of honey in the hot water. Soak a lemon slice in the drink for 5 minutes.

Try giving her this in the morning and before bed for 1 week and see if anything changes.

Good luck!

I would suggest seeking a 2nd opinion. Perhaps an Ear,nose,& throat Dr. or an internal medicine Dr.
If you do like & value the current Dr. simple tell them that your interested in a 2nd opinion & ask for a suggested specialty. If you have a good Dr. they should not be insulted, for if they are correct you will only get the same info they told you. If you do however come up with new info that helps,,, well they helped point you to someone else of more assistence after their resources to the cause of illness came to an end.

Good luck,,, if it were my child,,, I would pursue other avenues untill "I" felt comfortable with the answer & situation!

My nieces had all kinds of breathing problems until they were older. My youngest niece would actually gasp for breaths at times while having upper respiratory infections. They seem to be outgrowing it and the docs never gave any clear answers.
