An only child. often bored. was walking down to the shop one day and found a packet of cigs and a lighter on top like some one had left them behind. I picked them up and took them home. Before that i had tried smoking a couple of times with friends but the found packet set me off to doing something different. And the stupidity has continued.....

I was dieting and was told that smoking would help keep the weight off. It worked.... for about a year. But by the year's end, the weight was back and I was addicted. That was when I was 18-yrs-old. I'm 47-yrs-old now. I'm still smoking partly because I do enjoy it. Like after my meals and when I first wake up. IF I could restrict my habit to 5 or 6 smokes a day.... I'd do it. I want to quit....But it took me 2 weeks of getting sick to start them and I understand that it will take about 3 weeks to a month to get free of them and the sickness will be much worse weaning off that starting up. Lack of will power? I don't know.... But I"m getting closer and closer to quiting. Esp. with C.O.P.D. and emphysema lurking there in the horizon..... I don't want to get sick......

I started smoking as a desire to do so..Not some magic bullet that exist in society that forced me to,Other reasons would be once I started it was acceptable and not as attacked as it is today (no truth commercials that more then likely would have made me try what has such a inept grip on the country)Simply I smoke as a choice and find humor in the fact people think second hand smoke is deadlier then Auto & factory emissions

First began only smoking out on a date.....maybe one many years ago....smoked off and on for years...off several times for 5 years at a time even.....would gain weight so would light up ..was funny but when pregnant with my 3 kids was times I was off smoking then
last time started back got mad at work and nurse was outside smoking and I went outside and told her "give me one of those da** things".....now probably smoke half a day...
I enjoy sitting out on patio, enjoying one to relax....I keep my checkups...lungs etc...no problems
Don't smoke in restaurants even when it was legal to....just didn't

well, as a teen ager of course you won't skip this part of your teen age year. Some reasons are peer preasure just for the sake of being "in". Some people just like it and is addicted to it because it makes them feel good, comfortable and calm.
