I took a test on a friends blood sugar monitor today because I have had some (but not all) symptoms and have diabetes in my family (brother), I had not had breakfast or had anything to drink for 12 hours. It was 11.1, I know this is high but when I did a search all the sites talked about glucose level in the 100's how does 11.1 translate to the glucose level figure, should I be worried?

Ok. I know as diabetics we are supposed to wear it, but I was wondering how many of you actually do? I admit I don't and I've been trying to find something I would wear. Unfortunately I'm vain and I'm not going to wear something that looks cheap, but I'm also not going to rob a bank to buy something I like. Anyone know where I can find something nice but inexpensive?

I have been tested for diabetes and the results were inconclusive, I do not drink, and I have constant pancreatitis. Which has caused Gastroparesis. I also get a drugged feeling and feel like I am about to pass out from exhaustion when I eat sweets. I urinate every half hour and am constantly thirsty. What do you advise I do?

I really am worried about my mother. She is diabetic, had her eyes lazered to cortorize her haemorhaging blood vessels behind her eye. She is now knocking over drinking glasses next to her because she can't see them. When a white car drives passed her, she sees this white flash in her eyes, and is momentarily blinded. This concerns me a lot, because she lives on her own, and I have to do something about this. I would like to know what this is, how serious, because she is only seeing a doctor in January after all the festivities are over, coz specialist on holiday

My mom is 77 years old and is showing signs of dementia. She becomes disoriented at time and can' remember things. Example she did not know what house she was in today when I talked to her on the phone. She is also a diabetic and is on Kidney dialysis. My dad takes care of her but doesn't seem to get the dementia, almost like a denial.

My Dad is having surgery in on Thursday. He is having surgery, because of complications from the 1st one.The 7 fistulas were repaired, but they didn't staple him closed, instead it was an open flesh healing process.Imagine being cut from you anus to clear up half your testicles, I mean packing had to be done 10 times a day. After his surgery he was sent home, my mom,is not a nurse nor was she train in what to do at all. My mom is a strong woman, but the incision looked like micheal myers got a hold of my DAD.The nurse showed up 3 days later and she was even shocked at the surgery siteThat surgen told us that mom would only have to take care of my dad over the weekend, that turned into a month. My father is diebetic and has active Crohn's Disease. which makes his immune system very weak. What I really need to know is, if this were your dad, would you want the surgen to admit him at least for 24 hours? last time he ran a 104 fever w/uncontrolled bleeding,& no doctor to be found for 3 d

My name is umashankar Mukherjee.I am a serious diabetic patient from Kolkata, india wants to form a self help group of the diabetic patients.since Diabetes has become an epidemic as declerad by WHO,and I am sure because of faulty food habit & lifestyle the largest number will be Kolkata. As per as the facilities of treatment and awareness are concernerd ,there will be huge gaps.It is expensive for the needy pepole aswell to just know what is to be done.We can at least start an online community of the diabetes patients and help them by advise andcosteffective real treatment process.

Hello everyone,

If in a urine test it is written negative for sugar level, does that mean you have no diabetes or do we have to have blood test as well?

Thank you very much for your answers.
