It lowers my blood sugar from 99 to about 75. I heard it can damage your kidneys or liver, is this true?

Here's the scenario: You have Type 2 diabetes and have tried all possible oral medications like metformin, sulfonylurea and/or Actos/Avandia. Your glucose level is still uncontrolled despite optimal doses and now need another medication to add. By the way, you are also overweight, with a BMI >30. Your doctor tells you about a medication that works on controlling your glucose level with a potential for weight loss. Here's the catch: It must be injected, twice a day. Would you do it? If so, what would you like to hear from your doctor that would make you want to do it?

My husband has been experiencing severe dizzy spells. He went to an ENT because we thought it had something to do with his inner ear. Blood was drawn at the ENT's office. The results came back today. His blood glucose was 113. He was told to contact his primary care physician about Adult Onset Diabetes. Is dizziness a symptom of Diabetes? Is this number high enough to be considered diabetes?

The pastt 4 days hes been waking up dizzy and hes been having problems with dizziness throughout the day. I suggested he test his blood sugar because hes had problems with hypoglycemia and anemia before. We tested it two weeks ago and it was 108. His sugar today was 247. He hadn't eaten yet and had been awake a few hours already. Should he see a doctor? If so; in the meantime what can he do to lower his blood sogar without meds when its high?

I have a 14 month old little girl. My wife and I have noticed that when we give her a sippy cup or allow her to use a straw to drink one of our drinks (water, juice) she just gulps it down. We can give her 8oz of milk at dinner and she will drink 1/3 of it without stopping.

My wife told some friends at work about this and they said that they had heard being overly thirsty could be a sign of diabetes. What are other things we could look for? She is an extremely happy toddler....laughes all the time, great sleeper two 1.5 hour naps each day and usually sleeps from 8pm until 8:30am.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.....

I discovered I am diabetic (type 2) nearly 3 years ago after seeing my doctor about severe tingling and numbness in my left foot. We think we (luckily) caught the diabetes early, and I can control glucose levels well with pills and diet/exercise (lifestyle) changes. That said, the tingling and numbness has remaining at the same level over the last few years, not getting worse or better.
It is a bit puzzling (to me and my doctor) as diabetic neuropathy usually is distributed evenly between both feet and/or hands... and mine was and is still highly focused in one foot.

I've been to a neurologist on my doctor's advice and after some testing, and two CAT scans, over a number of visits he confirms this neuropathy, but is at somewhat of a loss for a cause. His best guess is that an old injury may have led to this condition... as an aside, I did play football in college and did have a fairly severe ankle sprain on this foot .
I'm curious if anyone can relate?
Thanks

My husband is a late onset type 1 diabetic (33yo) and he just will not exercise. Otherwise he takes good care of himself, eats right and keeps his sugars pretty low. He has no other health problems. He's on cholesterol medication as a precaution (because his diet tends to be a little higher in fat). I'm wondering if he is doing any long term damage by not exercising now. Is it a MUST to exercise or is it just recommended generally.

I am thirsty all the time (really dry mouth). I am tired a lot, especially around 2-3 o clock in the afternoon even though I sleep about 9-10 hours a night. I also have to pee a lot, especially after a coke or something like that....maybe once an hour or two....any thoughts??? My grandparents had diabetes, but no one in my immediate family does...is it possible that I could have it?

I have had diabetes for 25 years. I'm on the pump, in good control. Currently taking Humalog, Yasmin and Lexapro....and for some good forsaken reason I have these very intense outbreaks for days on end where every little ounce/inch of my body itiches. I'm so miserable. Does anyone have a clue why this happens and or what I can do to help it. Thank you in advance.

My step daughter is exhibiting signs of Type II diabetes and has an insulin test scheduled for Tuesday. What does this entail for her if this is in fact the case (she is 11 years old)? Right now she appears to have too much insulin in her system. I always thought diabetes was the other way around. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
