Yes , the risk is increased, since you have some of the components of the metabolic syndrome.
About the low potassium, this could be due to the antihypertensive medication, ask your dr, and maybe he'll prescribe you some potassium supplements or add another drug that saves potassium (depending on your blood pressure)

If you had diabetes then that would be a concern. But to know for sure if you have diabetes go and have a blood glucose test done. Is anyone in your family diabetic? If so that puts you at risk.
