You should have this checked out. I was 2 years old when I was diagnosed and have had it for 25 years now. My mom and I were at the mall, and I kept telling her I was thirsty...so she gave me juice etc. The cycle continued with me having to use the restroom, being thirsty etc. I walso was very tired and slugish for a 2 year old. They took me to the hospital right away as they put two and two together, and I was then diagnosed.
Look for frequent urination, slow hair growth or losing hair, tired. Those are some major factors. Bless your little child. I would love to know what happens.

There are cases where kids and adults have a defiency with growth. I have an Adult Growth Hormone Defiency but it's treatable. What the condition I have is called Insipidus Diabetes and that's where your extremly thirsty. You can even go to Eli Lily.com and they will tell you about diabetes and children. Webmd.com has great information on this as well. If your concered you can take her to an Encrongolist and they specialize in Diabetes and they can have blood work done on the baby. This is nothing to get nervous about as I lived a normal life the last 7 years with the medication. Good Luck !

My son was diagnosed at 8 1/2 months old and he did not have a easy diagnosis. His lips turned blue and so did his fingertips, due to lack of oxygen from the high sugar level of 868. He never went into a coma, he just had extremely high respiration's. Looking back we noticed he had slept a lot for two days prior and was thirsty, and he was soaked in urine every morning. Of course he had just been diagnosed with a ear infection so that explained tired, being a boy maybe the diaper was not on right. The only way to know is to talk to your doctor my friends son is brain damaged because his only symptom was lack of weight gain. He had diabetes for at least 6 months prior to diagnoses but because the doctor only weighted him he went undiagnosed and suffered brain damage and will function as a 20 month old his entire life. See a doctor ASAP know your family history and have a hemoglobin test done for a piece of mind and prevention. Good luck

my 3 year old has type 1 diabetes. drinking alot and peeing a lot, sleeping alot, after eating alot of sugar they are hard to control( not like spoiled kid, but meaner than usual and fighting you like they don't know what exactly they are doing) I hope every thing goes OK. one thing you can do before you contact a doc is don't let her eat after 8 pm and at 8 am get a blood glucose meter and check her blood. ( this is usually what the doc wants before blood work) call the doc and give them that number. If your child has a fruity smelling breath( you will know it when you smell it) than do not wait get them to the doc.( this is a sign of DKA and is very serious) check out this web site http://www.jdr.org this is for kids with diabetes. good luck and email me when you find out. I have been there and it is a hard road to get adjusted

The dr. can do a blood test same as an adult. I would call her dr. Another thing to look for would be does she go through more diapers then she should. Frequent urination is something else to look for. is she hungry all the time? Has she lost weight? Hope this helps, I'd call the dr.

Just take her to the DR and ask him to do a blood test on her and you will know the answer. You can also check it yourself in the mean time by finding someone with a bs machine and doing a finger prick and the best one to do is a fasting bs. This will ease your mind a little.

Things as serious as this shouldn't be left for Yahoo community to answer it for you, see a doctor and get her a blood test and put your mind at ease.
