I know you don't want docs but take it from someone who cares, what you can't afford is to fool around with diabetes. Diabetes will win. If you don't take care of it, it will kill you and that is if you are lucky. Most people go blind or have toes or legs amputated or go on dialasys before they die. The good news is that you can control it through diet. First, you need to know if you even have it. Go to the doctor! Eat as many fresh vegitables as possible, eat some fresh fruit. Lean protein is a great appetite suppressent. Cut way back on the carbs (don't cut them out all together). The majority of your plate should be green veggies (1/2 the plate). Reserve 1/4 of your plate for a lean protein. Reserve 1/4 of your plate for a carb. You can forsake this portion if you wish 1-2x/day. In between meals eat a green veggie choice and maybe a lean protein. We found turkey pepperoni to be a great filler. Do not substitute this for quality medical care! Good Luck!

The triamterine is just eliminating your excess fluids to lower your blood pressure. I am glad you do not have to take any other meds for this.

The first thing you should do is see a new doctor, describe your symptoms and ask for a Hemoglobin A1C test, or a fasting blood sugar to determine what your
blood sugar is. You may or may not have diabetes.
Signs of diabetes are
frequency of urination.
Tiredness.
Wanting to eat sweets.
Excessive thirst. ( I drank at least 8 glasses or more of water before I was diagnosed with Type III.)

Contrary to popular belief, Type II diabetes if caught in time, can be controlled and even eliminated by proper diet. Usually referred to as hyperglycemia. You can only determine if you have diabetes by having your blood work done as discussed in last paragraph.

The reason you are feeling so hungry has to do with the amount of liquids your body is eliminating, but don't stop. Just stay away from salty foods because that will make you retain water.

If you are able, use an artificial sweetener in your coffee, and use a fat free powdered creamer if you have to use creamer. ( I know I do).

I know how you feel about healthy foods and not having enough money. It seems that grocery stores or suppliers to the grocery stores, raise prices as soon as they find out something has been considered healthy and it makes it hard fo someone on a limited income to eat healthy. The price of fish went sky high when studies showed that it was good to eat fish.

You might try buying some frozen vegetables and using them, and eat broiled or baked chicken. Watch your amount of red meat. Okay to eat, just not too much. Watch for sales and stock up if possible. Stay away from the canned vegetables because of the high sodium levels.

If you can afford it, buy apples, oranges, and bananas, but only one banana a day. Although these fruits contain carbohyrates, they are good carbohydrates as opposed to what is called empty carbohydrates such as sodas.

I hope I have helped you. You really need to see a doctor to get your blood sugar checked and also let the doctor know about the muscle and joints aching. This may be caused by the triamterene. example: Dyazide. You may be losing potassium which will cause the muscles aches. That is why I suggested the bananas.
High in potassium and oranges are as well.

Best of health to you and I hope I have helped you.

First of all, these symptoms may have nothing to do with diabetes. The only way to rule out what is happening to you is to get blood work done.

Soul Doctor, I know you are a good person, but you need to stop posting "cures"/remedies for a disease as serious as diabetes!

Homeopathy cannot cure or treat diabetes! People have DIED from a treatable disease believing it could! Shame on you!

Before the discovery of insulin, that's exactly what always happened. Diabetics died. Homeopathy did not save them then and will not save them now.

If this person has Type 2, then they can make changes with diet and exercise alone, provided they have caught it in time. No need to spend any money.

If they have Type 1, they will DIE without insulin (although I assume they would have Type 2, I'm proving a point). For the reccord, "emaciation" means the person is starving to death literally from lack of insulin! They need a hospital, not a potion!

If you can please tell me how a bunch of homeopathic treatments meant to treat only the SYMPTOMS of diabetes ("thirst" etc.) can stop an autoimmune attack or reduce insulin resistance (The CAUSES of diabetes), I would be very impressed.

Natural therapies are fine for serious diseases if tried in CONJUNCTION with allopathic medicine and not as a sole treatment, any homeopath should agree with that. It cannot replace Western medicine in this case, not has it ever been prove to work period.

I am sorry if this is offensive, but I refuse to let someone else reading this put their health at risk.

First of all, antibiotics would be useless against a cold or flu -- that can't have been what you were diagnosed with if the doctor gave you antibiotics to treat it, unless your doctor is an idiot. Just sayin'. Feeling hungrier than usual would be a fairly normal response to an illness after you started to feel better -- but for it to have lasted weeks, that really makes me suspect something else is going on here. The pain you're having could be caused by something other than hunger -- acid reflux can cause a stomachache that feels kind of "gnawing," like hunger does, and so can an ulcer (though since most ulcers are treated with antibiotics and you just took a course of antibiotics, that doesn't seem too likely -- still possible, though). Since it's gone on for so long and doesn't sound like it's getting any better, I'd strongly suggest you talk to your doctor about it. It's probably nothing to worry about, but better safe than sorry. Good luck!

If you truely think you may have diabetes you need to run not walk to your docs and get tested. Diabetes is treatable but not cureable and the longer you delay treatment the more damage you do. Here are the signs of diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes Symptoms
The symptoms of Type I diabetes often come on suddenly and very severely. They include:
being exceptionally thirsty
dry mouth
the need to urinate often
weight loss (even though you may be hungry and eating well)
feeling weak and tired
blurry vision

Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms
Sometimes, people with Type II diabetes don't notice any symptoms or the symptoms are experienced gradually. They include:
blurry vision
cuts or sores that are slow to heal
itchy skin, yeast infections
increased thirst
dry mouth
need to urinate often
leg pain
If you have these symptoms then see your doc ASAP and ask to get tested.

you need to go to a new doctor. They can check your blood to see if you are a diabetic. You can't "reverse" diabetes, only manage it. See if you even have diabetes first. Usually diabetes will cause extreme thirst, urinating alot, irritabililty, itchy skin, all when your blood sugar is up. If it's down you will feel weak, may be confused, sweaty, lethargic. Go to a doctor, tell them what your symptoms are. You need a MD to address these issues.

Did your Doctor say you had diabettes? That is a serious problem and you need to not diagnose your self--there is not a known cure for diabettes but the symptoms you mention could be anything---go to your Dr and get a blood sugar test and start from there.

Go to the doctor! This is NOT something to play with. Yes, a good diet can certainly help diabetes, but there's more involved than just diet. Do not play with your health. GO TO THE DOCTOR!

Reduce your carb and sugar intake. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled by watching losing weight. Type 1 is only controlled by taking insulin.

I'm assuming you have type 2
