My teenage son has had type 1 diabetes for two years and is doing well. However he wants to try the new insulin inhaler but his endocronolgist doesn't want to prescribe it yet and we'll go along with that decision.

Has anyone been prescribed the inhaler and if so, have you had good results with it?

Thanks

my friend has pancreatitus and i wondered if it is closely related to eating badly. All she eats is like sugary foods. She is really thin, so im sure she thinks its okay to eat that stuff but really she could eat a bunch of junk food but when it comes to regular food shes always saying she isnt hungry. My stepdad told me that the pancreas>sp? breaks down those foods and if your eating a lot it might not have enough insulin and it could eventually lead to diabeties>sp? i just wondered if any one else knew about this. thanks

He nearly had a stroke the other day. He went to his diabetic doc and his blood pressure was stroke level. His doc wanted to do a cat scan but he refuses. I am worried about him along with all his family. We think his liver is failing because he is so bloated..

My mom was diabitic (caught at 55) lived well till 84 with insulin. My mother's father was diabitic also lived till 80+. We are six children, all non diabitic, to our parents & I am the youngest aged 54. I am a pure veg & teetotaller, but one bad habbit. From past 5 years, I have started drinking Coke. I consume 1 ltr or more every sitting. Perhaps 3 times a week. Is this bad?

She is 50 and just found out she has diabeties. She does not have medical insurance where she works and is not on medicare or medicaid. I have done a little research about this online and everything I found, you had to have insurance or be on medicare. She has neither, and the test strips she needs cost $50 a pack. With the medications she is already paying for, it could create a hardship. Thanks for any advice you might have.

I need to keep my insulin bottles cool for over 7 hours in flight. The Frio packs wont stay cool that long. I need to do something due to the new regulations of liquids on flights. What do you do? Wished there was a battery operated little machine to put my two vials in so that I can take it with me as a carry on.

HELP!! I need to go to NY for a week in january!

My diabetes educator gave a months worth of samples but I'm not sure whether to take them or not because the drug is so new. For one thing, anyone remember Vioxx and Celebrex? Didn't those drugs kill people? and also since it's so new it won't be in any insurance formulary. So I was wondering, should I give her the samples back and ask for something else to handle my sugar spikes?

i've been neglecting my type 1 diabetes for 6+ years. recently, i suffered 2 boughts of dka. since they discharged me from icu this past sept., my sugars are better, but my feet seem to have gotten worse. even my hands now tingle, pretty much all day and especially at night, which makes sleeping difficult. i heard they have an operation that eases the pressure off your nerves, but i can't possibly afford that, since i'm not insured (try getting health insurance w/ diabates!). anyhow, the pressure is really bad lately--anybody know of any topical creams or ointments out there that relieve such pressure? heck, i figured once my sugars were under control, the neuropathy would let up some, but to my surprise it's just getting worse w/ every day. any advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

When someone has a serious health condition ... why should you have to share more with your nurses / who filter it to your bosses and then it circulates among your co workers. It's almost career suicide to share information with anyone when you really are sick. You must be percieved as healthy / contributing 200 percent at all times.
