She is 50 and just found out she has diabeties. She does not have medical insurance where she works and is not on medicare or medicaid. I have done a little research about this online and everything I found, you had to have insurance or be on medicare. She has neither, and the test strips she needs cost $50 a pack. With the medications she is already paying for, it could create a hardship. Thanks for any advice you might have.

This is an awful situation that your mother is in . She should call the ADA in your area..Talk to her doctor about a free glucose monitor Her doctor does have resources. Her pharmacist may be able to help her. Look on the box of a glucose meter to see if there is a 1800 number for the manufacturer call it ,alot of times the company will issue a free meter and test strips. If you can get a meter for free you're saving alot, Prices of test strips vary.but you need strips that are comptatible with the machine that you are using

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Companies will provide physicians with free glucometers as the real profit is in the test strips which are typically very expensive as you have noted. Free test strips for an employed individual are very hard to come by. The company who made the glucometer will have a website and they will offer free strips but only to those who financially qualify which generally means that if you are employed that you do not qualify. Another option is to go to the website for the American Diabetes Association as they may be able to put you in touch with a kind company.

Go to Target and get an Easy Pro Meter, the meter costs $8.99 and the strips are $21.99 for fifty. The pharm. companies give away their meters to trap you into paying for their overpriced supplies. There are cheaper ones out there at Target and Wal-mart, they work just as well. The cheaper ones won't come with all the bells and whistles like the One Touch with all the ways to download graphs on your computer, but what you need is an affordable way to test your blood sugar. It's essential that this gets tracked, don't say it can't be afforded. I personally think I would rather have a lifetime of medical bills than be dead. I'm not trying to be judgmental like that sounds, just realistic.

My mom can't drive. She has to depend on mail delivery. She could get her supplies free from the Navy Base. But, she can't drive. She is on a fixed income like most seniors. What or where can I direct her to get help with her supplies? She takes 4 shots a day.

If she is working, there may be a "free clinic" in your area that would help.... If you don't know where to start, you might try calling the Health Department in your area and asking them about medical services for workers without insurance.
