I've read up on it and seen the local trials being promoted. I personally have an aversion to it. Surely, subjecting your sinus cavities and lungs to insulin hormone for long term can't be good for those tissues. They weren't meant for that type of use. Perhaps I am wrong, but I won't risk long term damage to parts of my body which are critical to me staying alive. I can't see how you could deliver insulin with a great deal of accuracy using that method, either.
Someone above suggested an insulin pump. Having used one for five years now, I will warn you that it is not any less rigorous a regimen than insulin shots. You still have to insert a needle, though less often, and it is constantly connected. If you do it right, finger testing frequency will increase. Having said that, the pump does allow much more flexibility and tighter control. The programmable basal will more closely simulate how your insulin was meant to be delivered. It takes some work, but I would never go back to shots. Your son might find this useful reading:

I would most definitely NOT recommend the insulin inhaler and most especially for a type 1 diabetic. Absorption of nasal insulin has been in the works for decades and although it is now available the amount absorbed into the body is simply too varied. Orally inhaled (into the lungs) insulin is in development and theoretically this should work better but the standard for type 1 diabetics is the combination of long acting basal (glargine or detemir) and rapid acting (aspart or lispro) prandial insulins.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

No I haven't tried it but like the others I've heard of it but the way I understand it is that it's a short acting insulin and I cannot take them I have a real sever reaction to them. If the Dr won't prescribe it it may not be good for your son. Talk a little more to him and see what he says about it. The Dr. I mean.

I haven't ever heard of it. But if he doesn't want to take shots anymore, talk to him about an insulin pump. I have one and I like it a lot better than the shots because you only have to stick yourself with a needle every three days.

I haven't tried it, but have heard it. I thought it was still in the works of fine tuning. My endochronologist said it wasn't available to the public yet. He's one of the top in the world. I have had it since I was 3 and am 27. I hope they come out with it soon. Good luck to your son, its a pain in the *** disease, but it could always be worse.
