Just got diagnosed a day ago. My doctor's nurse called and said I have to try to control it by diet. I wouldn't be able to go to the nutritionalist until next week. Every website that I checked, including the American Diebetic ***. doesn't give me any information unless I join something. When joining, or course, I cost something. I unfortunately am broke and can't afford to spend money to get information about what to eat, when to eat, how to set up meals, you name it. Can anyone help me, free of charge? Thanks so much!

A few days ago, I asked why my glucose was 229 one night two hours after eating, then 91 the next night, 5 hrs after eating. (Again, I have not been diagnosed with any blood sugar problems so far, but my mom is a diabetic and that is how I got to check.) I have been checking it periodically, altho I have not yet checked it on a completely empty stomach. My blood sugar has been totally normal since.....One night 114 two hours after a meal. Same night, 126 about 3 hrs after the meal, and about an hour after drinking a glass of cranberry juice. I checked my glucose today. It was 99, about three or four hours after eating.

I had drank some pop as well as eaten the first time I checked it and got that high reading.....but could it have been a fluke? I thought we did all the proper procedures....we made sure the strips were working correctly-they were, as well as entering the right code number......or was it momentarily high because of the soda? Should I leave it? Or should I see a doctor?

I have a 3 yr old with type1 diabetes and she is going to get an insulin pump in may. I'm really nervous about how she will react. and about if it is really easier. I just don't want to put her through more stress ( and my self too ) if it isn't going to work as good. ( she has had a couple of problems with insulins, we had to switch a couple of times.

I know for one I don't exercise as much as I should and I drink soda almost daily. I also have a sweet tooth. How can I prevent myself from acquiring what many of my family members have?

Hubby went to the Dr a few days ago, 2:30 in the afternoon. Blood work was ordered to check his electrolytes. The Lab called today and want him to come in for a fasting blood draw because his blood glucose came back at 120. Why would they even check his sugar that late in the afternoon? I have been researching prediabetes and he is at high risk and that doesnt surprise me, but he doesnt have any of the COMMON symptoms. should I be overly concerned?

My nursing instructor continues to tell me that the acidosis is r/t anaerobic metabolism producing lactic acid while the patient is in DKA .... WHAT???!!! I told her this is not correct based on the fact that hyperglycemia and a lack of insulin does NOT cause anaerobic metabolism. Fat metabolism....yes, anaerobic metabolism....no. Am I wrong? Why must we pay 25 grand to learn incorrect bs ??? Please let me know if I am right here.
