as far as I know about this disease
it appears with young age groups and it is genticaly determined
and it occurs becouse the the endocrine portion of the pancreas that is responsible for the production of insulin are destrpyed at least 80 percect of them so there is no production of insulin from the pancreas so as to deal with the sugar that is in the blood so it will stay in the blood and will not be transfered to peripheral cells that it has to go to it which are the muscle cells to use them for energy consumption or to the fatty cells to be stored there ... that's why it is called also insulin dependant diabetic mellitus coz the main coz here is the insulin defecincy .... so their treatment will be based totally on insulin unlike the type two which there are different drugs and ways to manage it ... and actually the people with it are usually thin and tired and their immuniy is low and they might develop complications as for all the deabitc patients will develop if not treated and if they do not establish alife style that make them compatible with it and once they have it they can llive normally like others and maintain anormal life .... all they need is to go for aplan that is put by aprofessional so as to control their sugar levels in the blood and everything would be okay ...thanks for the nice question ..

Type 1 diabetes requires a specific gene, followed by a viral infection, and finally an auto immune response which destroys the beta cells of the pancreas. Most of these cells are destroyed by the time of diagnosis and as these cells produce insulin the person with type 1 diabetes is not able to produce sufficient insulin to control glucose. Type 1 diabetes is typically diagnosed earlier than type 2 and type 1s tend to be lean (thin) while the majority (but not all) type 2s are overweight. All type 1s must take insulin to survive while type 2s generally require insulin by 10 years after diagnosis but not always at diagnosis. Type 1s tend to have a stormier course and more problems due to the diabetes in part as they are diagnosed younger (must live longer with the disorder) but also as type 1 is different than type 2. Newer glucometers, insulins, and insulin pumps have made type 1 easier to live with but it is still an unfortunate disorder. Although the genetics of type 1 is known that of type 2 displays a stronger pattern of genetic inheritance although the genetics is unknown. In type 1 twin studies if 1 twin develops type 1 diabetes the other is 50% likely to develop diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is when you are dependent on insulin injections.Your body does not produce any insulin itself. There are 2 basic methods of treatment but all include a daily regimen of injections. There's the regular needle you test and measure the amount of insulin you need and inject it before you eat every meal and or snack, the pump which has been such a convenience for so many type 1 diabetics regulates the insulin injections and tests your sugar levels directly from the inserted needle & tube that you change every so often. i hope this helps. :)

Well it's got nothing to do with lifestyles factors like eating too much junk food, or not enough exercise (like type 2 does).
You can't really prevent it if you're gonna get it and most people who do get it are kids or young adults.
there's not cure for it but you treat it with daily insulin injections (not tablets like with type 2).
I have had type 1 diabetes for almost 10 yrs.
