I have researched it and found that all disease feed on glucose in the bloodstream due to the high volume in American diets. I decided to change my diet due to health reasons and found myself feeling better. Anyone else due the same?

Moderation in all things.

I don't eat much commercially processed food. But, it started out as much a financial thing as health. Commercially processed food is just way to expensive, as well as being terrible for you. I was very poor, the sole support of 3 children.
I noticed how much healther we were than everyone else! But, I don't spend lots of $$ at speciality grocieres & I NEVER buy chemically laiden foods. Anything w/ an artificial sweetner is off my list!!! We know what sugar does to us, we have thousands of years of experiment on it. We don't know what that other stuff does. I let others experiment w/ artificial sweeterners, so my grandchildren w/ know if they are safe. (So far all of them have proven themselves unsafe over time.) I just eat fruit instead of candy/cakes/etc.

You DO need glucose!!!! The brain works on glucose. You actually do better on tests if you suck on a hard candy just before you take the test. In nursing school, the teachers handed us hard candies before every test. Your muscles need glucose as well. Diabetic shock is actually a shortage of glucose. You can die from it & if you are successfull enough in eliminating glucose from your diet, you don't have to be diabetic to die of it!

I'll take the $100 for a skittle! I'll eat a whole bag of 'em for that!!!

I am Diabetic and I still eat the same food I ate before I was diagnosed. The thing is now I eat a little of everything.
At first, I tried to change how and what I ate. I went nuts. It was like having a horrible day except it was just one meal. I was grumpy and I couldn't function well. I was told to eat just veggies and a little meat no bread etc. So I was eating like a rabbit and I felt more sick than ever.
That was when I decided I know what I want and I just have to stick to it and have it in little portions. Skip some of it sometime and reward myself when I know I deserve and need it.
Bad way to eat for a diabetic, my friends told me.
I don't care. I was able to manage my blood sugar when I did what I want.

I have a friend that does the same thing. We offered him a $100 to eat a skittle and he wouldn't do it. He gets sick the same as everyone else. He is still really healthy but he runs a lot too. I don't think it could hurt cutting out simple sugars that's for sure. I wouldn't replace them with saccarin and aspertame(sp?) though.

In 1983 I decided to alter my dietary habits. I eat a modified vegetarian diet. I do not consume salt, glucose (sugar), fat, cholesterol, fast food, or highly processed food. My motivation was that I do not much care for doctors and I do not ever wish to be dependent upon one. Wait a minute. What am I saying?
