Mornings are the best time to check blood pressure
Don't drink coffee or smoke cigarettes 30 minutes before having your blood pressure measured.
Go to the bathroom prior to the reading. A full bladder can change your blood pressure reading.
Before the test, sit for five minutes with your back supported and your feet flat on the ground. Rest your arm on a table at the level of your heart.

For blood glucose if your a diabete, you want to check your levels before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, and again at bedtime.
But if your just checking it, morning is also the best time.

I am pleased that you asked this question. Medical studies over the past 20 years have reached the conclusion that the 'best' blood pressure reading is that which is taken at home within 1/2 hour of awakening. By best I mean that this reading correlates best with cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. It is the prevention of such events that is the basis for lowering blood pressure. These studies have also concluded that for people on blood pressure lowering medications that this same reading should be utilized to determine the success of such treatment. The treatment goal is about 110/060 which is much lower than people think. The goal has decreased over time not so much because more is known but rather because medications become more and more effective with fewer and fewer side effects. Better medications mean that we are able to achieve blood pressure readings lower than ever before. The question of when to measure blood glucose has a slightly different answer. If you wish to follow glucose to determine if you are at risk of or may be developing diabetes then the fasting glucose is the best measurement. As with blood pressure with the advent of newer medications (especially over the past 5 years) we push for lower and lower glucose values. If I have someone following their fasting gluocse I ask them to email me readings that are above 100 which is again a 'normal' value and lower than you would expect. If you are on medications to lower your gluocose you must follow not only fasting glucose, but prandial (after meal glucose) as well. Until the past 5 years we focused too much on the fasting gluocse. Now that we have better medications for prandial glucose excursions it has become clear that this is an increasingly important number as the glucose nears 'normal' or goal. In addition to fasting and prandial it is necessary to measure the glucose prior to going to bed. At present the goal is to maintain the glucose within a narrow range say 100 to 140 day and night before during and after meals. Five years ago this would not have been possible and although it is difficult to achieve many people reach this goal. If you are not able to control the glucose in such a narrow or 'normal' range the closer you get the better off you are. Thank you for your question and I hope that this answer will be helpful to you and to others. I try not to get too technical and I tend to be a bit long with my answers. I am primarily an educator and there is no disorder in which your responsibility, involvement, and education is more important than diabetes. By the way I hope that you are asking as a matter of interest and that you do not have diabetes yourself. As always I wish you the best of luck and health.

To check blood pressure,a person should stop doing any exercise for at least 15 minutes and relaxed.
Fasting blood glucose is normally used to monitor the blood glucose level in diabetics. It is measured in the early morning when the person has not eaten anything.

This is a bizarre blood pressure reading. It almost seems like the blood pressure gage wasn't working. If the gage was actually working, the readings show simultaneously blood pressure that is too low and blood pressure that is too high. This would make sense if you are dehydrated or taking some type of medication, otherwise, something is wrong. Make sure you are fully hydrated and not taking any medications and then try again. If you get the same result, it would be a good idea to see a doc.

A blood pressure measurement will be most representative if you have been relaxed for say, at least 15 minutes if possible. But as exercise and stress (about having your blood pressure monitored or visiting the doctor!) can both alter your blood pressure try to control your exposure to these beforehand.
As for blood glucose, it depends why your taking it. If You're diabetic having a possible hypo episode, it needs taking there and then. Otherwise your doctor or diabetic specialist will be most able to advise you accurately.

Generally speaking you should take your blood pressure around the same time every day and you should take it more than once because it can vary quite a bit from one reading to the next. Glucose is another issue. Those readings should be taken about an hour after you eat and those should also be taken more than once. Hope this helps.

BGL should be done fasting usually so first thing in the morning is best and blood pressure can be any time. If you are on meds for hypertension then when that med is working is best to be sure it is doing it's job.

I suggest doing it first thing in the morning, before eating, particularly for accuracy in terms of blood sugar. Fasting blood sugar is a good indicator of potential problems if it is high; after eating, you're dealing with LOTS of different variables, so for the sake of consistency, it's best to eliminate them.
