You know, I have heard all my life about dentists being at such risk for commiting suicide, but I also keep hearing that it's a myth. I've just done a few searches for "dentist suicide," "dentist suicide rate," and "dentist suicide statistics," and I'm just not finding anything relevant.

Can someone actually cite a study - even ONE study - or provide me with a link that supports the popular claim that dentists have a high risk of suicide?

Thanks.

My mom needs oral surgury. She's got an infection in the root of her teeth & gums. There's also bone damage. She has a very low income, no insurance, & can't get assistance anywhere. Any Dr. she's inquired with requires pymt (cheapest found was about $900) up front, in full, & this isn't something she can afford. She was able to get an antibiotic at the local clinic, but if this isn't fixed soon, the infection could go to her brain & ... I don't even want to think about that possibility. Our deepest appreciation couldn't begin to thank any suggestions or help that could be provided in this situation.

I have no auto insurance. I bumped into a guy in front of me at a stoplight. I was flustered and for whatever reason I told him I was a dentist. Strangely enough, he needs some crown work and I offered to do it for free if he didn't report the accident.

About a week ago, it had felt like I had dislocated my jaw, but I could still open it if I held it. Now, everytime I open my mouth, it feels like I am pulling a muscle in my right jaw. What could this be?

I know braces questions are probably really common and annoying but I'm not asking what type of foods I'm allowed to eat. What kind of foods won't get stuck in there? I don't have time to clean out my braces after each lunch period and I don't want food stuck in my teeth. Does anyone know what i can do about school snacks?

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on Friday and I'm very scared. But more importantly, my boyfriend's father's retirement party is on Saturday and I really want to go. Will I be able to go or will I be in too much pain? Any advice is appreciated. Also, am I being a big baby about nothing? It's only my two bottom because they are through and have cavities. I'm completely freaking out. Everyone says it's no big deal but I'm afraid of the pain when the anesthesia wears off. What if Vics just aren't enough? Help!

"i don't have insurance"...quit whining. if you're sick you go to the doctor whether you have insurance or not. so why do people avoid dental treatment knowing that it's gonna cause agonizing pain just because they don't have insurance.

here's another one. why do you think that you deserve new teeth without paying for it? you let you teeth go bad (cause you didn't have insurance, right) and now you want some charitable organization to pay for your extreme makeover. it's by far the most common question on here.

your tooth problems are always your own fault so it's time to take on the personal and financial resposiblity to do something about it. put the soda and candy bar down and pick up some floss so you don't have future problems.

I make pretty good money, but my company doesn't have dental insurance and I don't really want to drop $1000 for a crown. Are there any options for those who don't have dental insurance but don't qualify for medicaid or other low-income places?

Since it's cosmetic, I heard that insurance doesn't foot the bill. But if the need for veneers goes beyond cosmetic, how does one qualify for insurance to cover some/all?
