I was wondering, is it alright for the area where your wisdom teeth are growing to hurt a little without needing them removed or is it necessary/better to get them removed at the first sense of pain?

i just got braces about a week ago. my orthodontist wanted to pull three of my teeth to make room to get rid of my overbite. so, six days later, and the spots where two of my three teeth were pulled are very sensitive to anything cold, including breathing in air. it feels like i have a cavity in the spots where my teeth were pulled. i don't think it's a dry socket, because it's not constant, or excruciating pain. but maybe i'm wrong. what could it be?
