It depends on the dr. All you have to do is call a dr and ask them what they charge for a consultation.

Some dentists will do a free consultation. You need to call some and ask. Most offices will take xrays to be able to see what is going on. So you would be charged for the xrays as well as an initial exam. These prices should be somewhat similar for all offices in your area, but it depends on whether you live near a big city or in the rural areas.
Never hurts to ask, just call a bunch of offices and ask if they offer free consultations, if they do not ask how much one would be. Then call another. You want a good dentist though, and not just a cheap one. So I would also recommend you talk to some friends or co workers and ask who they go to and if they would recommend others go there. Word of mouth means the most. An ad can say the dentist is great, but it doesn't mean anything!

If your a dentist you probably won't have to pay for a consultation, it's kinda like a cop getting a free pass on a speeding ticket.

some dentist are free but the one i use charge 75.00 for first time consultation then rest are free ..
