Explain briefly under what conditions do we gain more body-weight if we often consume a carbohydrate-rich or lipid-enriched meal, both of which is in excess calories but of same amount?

I've been operating on an assumption of the following caloric intake works well: 10% fat, 45% protein, 45% carbs. It seems to work OK, but I'm not getting ripped. Is there something better? Is it possible to eliminate fat altogether without causing problems?

not where those calories came from. I always thought people cut out carbs because that's simply where people get most of their calories. And, if I start eating more food than I have been, won't I gain weight because I'm not used to that amount of food? I'm so confused!!!

About three weeks ago I was at cheerleading pratice and we were doing splits and I guess I did not strech long enough or I went down to far and ever body heard a pop noise but I just felt a sharp pain. I was told to go walking every day so could strech the muscle. How long do you think it will take to heal? Will I have o get physical therpy? The isn't as much pain as there was but Ican't do toe touches squats or handstands or really anything that requirs moving the leg a-lot. OHH.. And I have tried using the Icy Hot things. Will this problem be gone in the next 11 months.

In my mind it seems that eating food puts calories into the body, and exercise burns them off. So, it should follow that if you burn more through exercise than you put in through eating, your body will have to burn itself (fat and muscle) to keep going. If your primary goal is to lose weight and you are not concerned about looking muscular at this point, then why not eat as little as possible and run as much as possible?

Hi, I just turned 19 four months ago and have never had a job, but plan on getting one this summer to help pay for college books etc. That being said, I have two cavities on the upper part on each side of my jaw. One of them hurts alot when I try to go to sleep at night. Now I can only eat on one side of my mouth, but I don't want the cavity that doesn't hurt to get worse. I haven't been to the dentist in about 10 years and don't have dental insurance any more. Since I don't have a job I don't think I could get insurance. Even if I just got a job, i'd propably have to wait for insurance. I would like to get my tooth fixed as soon as possible so it doesn't get worse. I still live with my father and rarely ask him for any money because i'm 19 and would feel embarrased too, but am willing to ask for some money for my teeth. I would like to save as much money as possible to get the one painful tooth fixed, and pay my father back as soon as i get a job. Should I get a dental plan? What are my other options to save on money when going to the dentest.

Also I would like to know some good tooth pain medicine to help me sleep at at night, and does Dent's toothache gum (that old time red gum you fill a cavity with) work?

Thank you for taking time to read this. I know it's a lot, but is greatly appreciated. I really don't know what to do.

We all know how frustrating it is when you go to the gym, but don’t see your body changing. It can be discouraging to do all that hard work and not see any physical change. What can you do to see real results when you work out?

My 13 month old son has had some seasonal allergies. ( we live in kansas and between the wheat dust and rain everyone seems to have them) Anyway, yesterday he woke up and his eye was a little matted and today his nose is running and now has a low grade fever. He is not pulling or tugging on his ears, so I don't think they are an issue. Does a fever occur with allergies? We have been in the pool quite a bit, so wondering if perhaps just a cold.

My Father-in-law has to have a MRI of the brain.
He is concerned about having the test done (well actually it's moreso my Mother-in-law that is concerned) because he had heart surgery back in 1999 and they put wires in his chest.

My opinion is that it's been long enough that the MRI will not affect him, but I want to be sure.
Does anyone have any knowledge or info about this?
Am I right OR should he not have the MRI done?

Any information would be greatly appreciated :)

i know nothing is 100%, but if i take my birth control within an hour each day, used a condom that didn't break, and because i'm overlly cautious took the emergency contraception in less than 12 hours...the chances of me becoming preg. are very slim, correct?

Long story short, my dad's been clinically depressed for a few months. Committed himself June 1st because having suicidal thoughts. ER said he could or they would, when mom took him to hospital. Stayed 1 week, cheeked meds, lied to get out, went home and got worse. Yesterday he disappeared, suprisingly the police took report immediatly. They found him 10 pm at park trying to kill himself (don't know details yet). Spent night in hospital.

QUESTION- Will the he be "forcefully" committed? He needs help, and for reasons too long to explain mom cannot seem to put her foot down. Anyone know the law specific to Washington State?

I've been under unusual stress lately due to college and my period was 3 days late when I had protected sex and ever since I've been really paranoid and stressed out about it. So much that I'll wake up in the middle of the night crying and shaking really bad. I wanna go to the doctor but I feel really shy and scared about going. Now I'm 9 days late.

I have what doctors call night blindness. Although a doctor didn't tell me that, I researched it online when I noticed I started seeing glare off traffic lights and headlights when I drive at night. So my question is, should I wear glasses at night? Or does it really depend on the severity of it? Thanks for the help! :D

I know this question sounds dumb or you just want to answer it by saying "By getting bigger muscles" but what I mean is when I walk around non-flexing I look pretty skinny but if i flex my muscles really show that I have been working out, So how can I tone them up i guess to make them look muscular without having to flex all the time?

Last month I tried Wellbutrin and it made me a basket case, I cried a lot, had fits of anger, couldn't stop shaking and not to mention the lovely 24 hour headaches and waves of nausea. I called my dr and had her take me off of them. Another dr of mine said that I might want to try a mood stabilizer. I was wondering if anyone has tried these and what their side effects were like. Any help is appreciated!
