The key to including the great taste of peanut butter into a healthy diet without adding extra fat and calories is portion control.

Your best bet is to go to the grocery store and find the maple syrup that's made for diabetics. Now that the government has cleared the idea that saccharin causes cancer, you have no reason to avoid artificial sweeteners because they're at no risk to your health. I've tried this before just to lessen my sugar intake and it's actually as sweet as normal maple syrup but a little thinner.

Peanut butter has protein- healthy.
Honey and syrup are just forms of sugar.

Try topping it with half a banana sliced and 3 tbsp low sugar maple syrup. It's yummy!

I would go with the honey but it all depends on how much you put on the waffle.
