Sorry to say YES, but has the congenital heart diseases have been ruled out. I had a case of 11 years old boy (during last Christmas) who reported in ER shockingly he had severe over dose of heroin and collapsed in an hour due to cardiac arrhythmia. Now a days age is not accounted for Myocardial Infarction.

Best we can do is educate our children against these street drugs.

People of any age can die of heart attacks. Heart attacks in young people are usually caused by a medical problem with the heart that has been there for a while. It is extremely rare. If you feel your heart is beating faster than normal without drinking coffee, red bull etc you should get it checked out. There is many causes to chest pain so don't panic but get it looked at.

Loving Heart says he/she is a doctor, yet in common with others on this page, doesn't seem to understand the difference between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest. A 3 year-old could have a cardiac arrest (the heart stops) due to muscle disease, arrythmia, drug toxicity etc. but I have never heard of a child having a heart attack, which occurs when a fatty plaque in the coronary artery ruptures and forms a blood clot.

my friend's son died of a heart attack - aged 3. It can happen to anyone at any age. The cause in a young person would often be down to an undetected medical problem - most normally healthy people do not just drop dead of a heart attack.
