My older sister was told by her friend that she must try to loose weight first before signing up for a gym class. Her reason was that if one stops exercising or lifting weights, she will easily go back, to the same body type that she used to have, or worse, twice that size!

I had my first blood test 3 years ago, which revelaed a very high ESR level of 78. Since then, I have had more blood tests to keep an eye on my ESR levels, but they are always between 53 and 78. My chest Xray has come back clear to rule out TB. As I have no symptoms of illness, my doctor feels that there isnt much more he can advise me on. I am worried about the things I have found on the internet about the causes of high ESR (artheritis), but my doctor feels at the age of 26 I shoud not worry about this. I am curious to know if others have had ESR readings this high, and what was causing it. What should I do (or say to my GP) to find the cause?

I did go to the doctor and she told me I have a circulation problem. Most probably due to weight gain. Now I'm experiencing something very odd. My legs and feet have remained swollen and now there is water like fluid seeping out of the shin on my leg. It's odd. Why could this bee happening? I know I'm going to get the .. 'Go to the doctor' answers, but that is not what I am looking for. I fully plan on seeking medical advice from a physican, but was wondering if anyone had a clue about this before I go to the doctor.

Does anyone know what it takes for a woman to get sterilized? Is there a certain age they have to reach before doctors will perform that surgery? Is just saying that they don't want to have kids enough of a reason, or do doctors need more reason? I'm just curious! Thanks!

I've suffered from a great deal of intermittent pain for over a year now. The strange thing is, it is only the left side of my body. Everything from the left side of my neck down to my left ankle is frequently very painful (an easy 7 on the pain scale) and tingles. I also get massive muscle spasms, but again, only on the left side of the body. Today I actually had to remove my bangle bracets as they bothered me so badly. What could possibly cause just one side of the body to act up this way? My doctor seems to be at a loss and I'd very much like to at least suggest something else to test for and perhaps treat.

My husband has been checked for Gull Bladder disease, diverticuliits and it isn't cancer. We have been through CT scans, ultrasounds and stool sample testing. What could it be? I am worried sick, and of course he can't get into the GI specialist until December.
