How much do they cost?
What did your insurance pay? I'm trying to figure out if I will have to pay for the whole procedure or if there is just a copay that I have to pay. I haven't met my deductible this year & my deductible is $1000!

Not a colonoscopy.....it's called a colposcopy!
a test in which the doctor uses an instrument called a Colposcope to look at the cervix with magnification

I've had a couple of these procedures and they were all covered by my insurance. I only had to pay my co-pay and maybe a few extra dollars (less than $50) that weren't covered by insurance. Good luck!

You should call your insurance company to find out what percentage of the procedure they cover as an expense. If you haven't met your deductable likely you will have to pay for it.
I imagine, depending on the reason for the exam, and how long it would take, anywhere from 200-500 dollars, including the doctors and lab fees for any smears or slides taken.
BTW, colposcopy is a fancy name for a routine gynacologic pelvic exam performed with a magnifying scope.

A Colposcopy doesn't cost that much. They are usually between $250 - 350. Some might let you pay it out. Talk to your insurance company first about it, they may pay for it.

I've had this done this year actually and I went through my health department. Some health departments depending on where you live do not do this procedure. I just paid $50 dollars. It goes by your income and your household size. Im not sure about the insurance thing. I was referred to the health department by planned parenthood. Perhaps you should call them to see if they can refer you somewhere that is not too expensive. They might even do it there, depending on you state. GL :)

It depends on your insurance. All cover different amounts.

Cost of a colonoscopy, also, differs. Depends where you have it done and on the physician.

You need to contact the customer service of your health insurance to find out what they cover and what your financial responsibility would be.

You will need to ask your physician what he charges to perform the procedure and then ask the place where he will perform it how much they will charge to find out the cost.

Everyone's insurance is different. You should contact your insurance company and see what they say. If your doctor has referred you out to a specialist for a coposcopy, then it probably would be covered 100%. Mine was.

Your insurance should pay for it if it is recomended by a physician. If not, then they will make you pay the ridiculous deductable.

that depends on your insurance, you should ask them. it will not be cheap. it will be in the several hundreds at least i am guessing. they need to do biopsies and send those out to be read, the doctor will have his fee for the colpo itself and it could be in the hundreds alone
