I wanna try and make a strict vegetarian pizza meaning no animal source whatsoever, that includes the cheese but my local grocery store doesn't carry any vegetarian cheese - Are there any substitues for vegan cheese or is there some online source where I can buy vegetarian cheese?

I have notice a large number of people suggest that when transitioning to vegitarian (or even vegan) they should eat "cold turkey" Turkey is an animal. Why would anybody think that just because you ate it cold, it would be vegetarian. This just doesn't make sense. If you eat turkey you are a pollovior.

:-)

I was on youtube.com and found couple of videos from bands I listen to(Bring Me The Horizon and Silverstein) talking about going vegetarian. Then I saw couple of videos about animals and how they are when they are going to slaughter house.I want to become a vegetarian for many reason such as health and for the animals.I understand this is a lifestyle change and not a diet and I am willing to change my eating habits If you could give on me what not to eat and anything else you think I need think that I need to know. Also if you don't have anything helpful to don't bother.

Ok I've been vegan for around 3 years. My body sort of reacts badly whenever I have dairy (usually those "hidden ingredients").

For example, I had a bean burrito that was supposedly vegan, but I strongly believe there was cheese in the beans. Reason? Several minutes after I stopped eating it (I didn't finish cause it tasted milk-y) I start feeling my stomach in knots and I feel gassy/bloated (sorry TMI) and overall kind of "yucky".

I am pretty sure it's not because of food poisoning or anything, and this has happened before when I've had "non-dairy" creamer that has dairy in it, etc. etc.

I am wondering if there is anything I can do to alleviate the pain and discomfort in the event of "accidental dairy ingestion." I know prevention is key... After every incident I try even harder to read lables, ask questions, but STILL sometimes this happens.

Thanks for looking, I hope someone has a great suggestion!

I red on the back of a morning star box and it said it texturizes the soy and veggies to make it taste like meat. but my mom thinks they put chemicals in it is that true? Thinks like Veggie Chicken wings, Chocolate, etc soy and veggie burger I'm talking about. I don't really have a taste for meat, but l like the veggie alternatives.

My family is against the whole idea esp my granny and my mother. She tells me its stupid yet when ppl ask about it she say's she tried to be one for 4 months..........hmmmmmm
Their all about meat so converting them is a no no

Even if you didn't know it ??

Is it some kind of toxin, that meat eaters just get used to, so it doesn't make them sick anymore?
I heard because it is hard to digest, but when it happens to me, my stomach is instantly spasming? why?

ok, i am not a vegetarian or vegan, but would like to be one day.

i know that vegans are very against anything to do with animals and animal products. and from what ive heard its mainly about how the animals are kept in dirty, unsanitary, unhealthy conditions, & pumped up with growth hormones then brutally slaughtered to feed the mass population.
so my question is, say i have a farm, completely ran and owned by myself and family. we have cows and chickens. we do not raise them for mass consumption. when we need to eat one of the animals we kill it humanly and use all of the body with out waste of it.
i know that the eating of meat obviously rules me out for being a vegan. but i guess the real question is, would it be seen as more of an accepted thing by vegans to eat meat if it was done in this fashion?

I just got these new "Viana Cowgirl" vegan steak things from Germany for fun http://veganstore.com/new-products/viana-cowgirl-veggie-steaks/Page_2/557st.html and I just realized that I have no idea what people do when a slab of "meat" is dinner.
:)

When I was a kid I just drowned it in catsup... but that probably wouldn't taste too good now.

Should I put sautéed onions on it or something with some kind of spinach side dish?
Thanks
:)

Because there is still meat in their food, and the way they test some of these that are like dental diets, etc. I cant stand it!

I have friends coming to supper tomorrow. Have just found out that my veggie friend has become vegan. I am stumped what to cook as all my veggie recipes contain dairy products. I was going to do a mushroom and asparagus pasta dish - it has cream & parmesan in it plus I'm not sure if pasta would be OK? Also salad dressings - Ok if I make my own with Olive Oil & vinegar etc?
I'd rather not cook separate meals for everyone - not because I'm lazy just because I don't want my friend to feel uncomfortable. Any suggestions on how I can make this dish acceptable for a vegan or even any other good recipes (haven't been shopping yet).
Sorry if I appear ignorant of vegan diets - have to admit I'm not even strictly vegetarian myself.
Thank you

I am wondering how to store un-hulled (whole) pumpkin seeds for eating later (like summer!). I plan to roast them, so I'm wondering if I should cook them first, then store them, or do it while they're still raw. And what method should I use to store? Sealer bags, canning, etc?

I was wondering when to call companies and when to not. If the food is labeled vegan, I call the company to see if it was manufactured on equipment that had animal products and other questions. Or if I read a label and see that the ingredients are vegan, I have to call the company and ask the same questions. Am I being to untrusting? Or should I call?
