fish oil comes from dead fish. Vegetarians don't eat dead fish..or live ones for that matter : )

Of course you can. But a nice Vegan source is Udo's Choice Oil Blend flax Seed Oil with 3-6-9 Omegas. It's great made into a salad dressing or added to a smoothie.

It's all a matter of preference. In my opinion a vegetarian shouldn't take fish oil supplements but it's your choice. However if you are looking for Omega-3 try grapes, walnuts, flaxseed, and soy. They actually make Flaxseed oil supplements for omega-3 and I think that would be a better option if you are going to be a vegetarian.

Fish oil is not vegetarian.

Flax seeds do have omega 3 fatty acids, but must be ground for the nutrient to be bioavailable. You can also add flax oil to your diet, but DO NOT cook with it, as it will destroy the nutrients. Flax oil is good for making salad dressings or drizzled over vegetables.

www.veganstore.com has vegan omega-3 supplements as well.

No, fish is not vegetarian. You can get your omega-3 from flax seed. You can grind it in a pepper grinder and add it to almost anything (I grind mine over toast with peanut butter or into my salad.) A couple of tablespoons covers you.

It depends on whether you're a true vegetarian or you eat fish. If you eat fish, then it's fine, but if you are a strict vegetarian, then you shouldn't take fish oil.

Technically - no - fish oil = animal product from flesh of an animal.

Try flax oil or flax seed instead. For more information about vegetarian sources of omega-3s: http://www.veggieheadonline.com/omega3.html

Oh absolutely not... even if not taking it kills you . . . at least you will be a true, but dead, vegetarian. How stupid are these comments!

Of course take the damn supplemetns if your health depends on it. Besides world cultures, not these damn V&V fools, but entire cultures recognize that some damn little capsules do not NOT make you vegetarian.

Do youself a favor, don't ask these idiots questions like this. Maintain your vegetarian habits, but don't check your brain at the door.

nope - flax seeds and oil are filled with omega 3's though - you can add flax seeds to most foods or just eat them by themselves
