When I hear this time and time again, I feel so much frustration and anger because these people are incapable of understand anything. I gave up arguing the facts; letting them know about lentils, beans, nuts, etc.... Because it goes in one ear and right out the other.

Next time I hear this, and I don't care who says it, I want to take my right hand and backhand the person as hard and as fast as a I can...making sure my ring finger is exposed and dents their skull. I am so sick of these people trying to change me.

I'm not trying to change anyone either. I keep this stuff to myself. Its just when they ask stupid questions like this, which makes my blood boil.

I have marinated it with some veggies. This is my first time cooking it and I want to stir-fry it with the veggies. Any tips for getting it right?

I find it interesting to discuss this with other people.

Was it a health decision, a moral decision, or were you brought up that way?

For me it was a combination of things- i was having stomach problems, and decided to eat healthier. Since becoming a veggie ( a a lacoto-ovo) my acid refux problem has totally gone away. Also as I got older meat started smelling like a corpse to me- and the whole meat industry thing is horrible. I really love animals ( my dogs are like my babies).. and think everything has a soul.

I don't have problems with anyone else eating it- I just don't feel like I should.

What is your reason? Serious answers only, I've posted similar questions before, and there is always someone saying our eating choice is stupid.

i'm a vegetarian, and i am really trying hard to be a vegan but i can't do it because i'm always hungry and i don't have time to make special meals every day to ensure i'm getting adequate amounts of protein, and a few essential vitamins and minerals. it's also hard socially because i'm going out a lot and there's never anything vegan friendly. i'm someone who can't go hungry without getting irritable and i hate the feeling,i'm not a nice person to be around! once i eat something vegetarian i just tell myself "well i've already screwed up, i may as well make the most of it and start again tomorrow"
in other words i'm a lazy vegan-wannabe.
i guess what i'm asking for you to do is just reinforce the reasons why i should become a vegan. i'm being stupid and lazy and need a kick in the head to wake up. i don't eat meat, never... it's just small things like dairy and products containing eggs... those sorts of things.
i'm not taking it seriously and i wish that i could.

vego meaning either vegatarian or vegan.

i only know 2 vegetarians (not close friends of mine) and not a single vegan.

as a vegan myself i think it would be benefitial to have at least one person in my life who shares my beliefs, because it's hard getting people to understand me. they all think i'm some sort of tree hugging hippy who is just going through a phase. i'm not taken seriously i have no support!
it doesn't bother me so much, i'd just like to have an intelligent conversation with someone about the meat and dairy industry without the other person becoming all defensive and disregarding all the facts i tell them! (operative word being *facts*)
it would also be great to learn from them because i know i have a lot left to learn.

can anyone relate?

Vegetarians who are pro-animal rights, but who continue to eat dairy, eggs, or fish seem like they're hypocrtires. If you eat cheese, eggs, and fish, you support the dairy, egg, and fish industry which is really no different than the slaughter industry. Chickens used to produce eggs and cows used to produce milk and fish caught or farm-raised ultimately lead to their demise and the demise of the environment. In order to become a true vegetarian, is veganism the only way to go?

My brother said "That's a big difference. She never ate meat anyway." I never liked pork, steak, or any red meat when I was little. All I would eat was chicken or crab. But that changed.

I've been gradually reducing my meat intake in pursuit of becoming a vegetarian. I have zero support from family members in this matter and I am constantly being told by them that the protein I get from tofu or other vegetable product is not the same as a meat protein and that the body needs the protein derived from meat to be balanced. Is any of this true? Are vegetables and vegetable products not enough to get the type of protein a body needs - do I have to take some certain supplements to make up for the type of protein I'm not getting from meat?

Those of you who say "meat tastes good" forget that it only tastes good because you have lived on the stuff. I accidentally tasted meat once and it tasted exactly like what I expected - rotting flesh. The smell of steak is not surprising - greasy, decomposing death.

My mum is alright with me not eating other animals, but she wont let me drop fish off my menu, she thinks it's 'necessary in a healthy diet'.

Does anyone have a good list, maybe a link to a website or something, with information as to why we shouldn't eat fish? I'd like a whole range of information, stuff about how smart they are, about how cruel-ly they are farmed, how damaging fishing can be to the environment, how we can get the nutrition of fish in other foods ... anything.

I've tried searching google for it, but it's hard to figure out the right search words, I haven't really been able to come up with anything myself.
